Warn Winch Bumper/Messurements Needed

Here A quick photochop

A little heavier than stock.

The center of the bumper is very strong. The bumper wings are thinner gage material and not that strong. The top panels are thin and basically there for looks. You can strengthen the wings by beefing up your bumper support arms but unless you plan to rock crawl or run into trees you'll be fine. You can also replace the top panels with thicker steel.

In the end it comes down to individual taste, I liked the way it looked so I was willing to modify Warn's initial design to suit my needs.

Are you looking to put a winch into that bumper? As clearance goes, might be a good idea to figure out which one, or which style.

My 8274 on a homebrew bumper sticks out about 16" measured from the grill, more with the fairlead. As you can see in the pic, there is only extra room to take the winch out of the bumper without removing the bumper.

FYI Warn no longer makes that front bumper. You will have to find someone willing to part with theirs instead.

Ok, here are the custom bracket pictures. mrk5 and I made these out of 3/8 steel stock. We used a portable band saw so the lines aren't laser straight. You'll notice the center section bottom outside edges had to be notched to account for rearward movement. The bumper wing top edges also had to be trimmed (not pictured).

Cool...Thanks. I am currently mounting mine, which had the wrong year Warn brackets, and was going to move it up and in but that 8274 takes up a lot of room and starts to block the radiator, oil cooler and trans cooler. Mine is about the stock height but had to move it outboard about 1/2" for the adaptor plates to work. I may fab some plates like yours later

This is at normal height but 1" farther out due to my mounting adaptors.
I just fabbed some new rock guards (as Warn calls them) from 1/8" diamond plate. They're suppose to mount under the lip but I sure like how they look on top. I'll probably raise the whole bumper at a later time.

something neat, if your truck is lifted(all of are's our:D) you can use the bumper as a step to work under the hood

I think any of warn's winches under 10k will fit in the classic bumper

EDIT: did some google searching you can mount any of the following; M12, xd9000i, xd9000, m8274, m8000, m6000, Tabor9000.
Also here is the part # for the hardware kit 73-80 chevy - 25405
