Hey all- thought I would share my frustrations---

I saw an ad on craigslist for a 76 1 ton dually in decent shape- only $500 bucks.

So I call the guy and ask him about the truck- he ended up with it because blah blah blah
He tells me it is all stock as far as he knows. Tells me it is a 400/400/205 but the motor is shot. Then he tells me that someone has called him and offered $400 and will pick it up in three days.
So---- I tell him over the phone that I will send a truck after it that day and match the offer- done.

So i get the truck -- unless the factory made 1 tons with 400/350/203 d44 fronts then I guess I got screwed. Looks like it wasnt stock after all. The title is labeled as a k20---

oops- at least it was cheap

Actually it was '77 for the D60 front's intro year in the GM line-up.

Might make a cool retro tow rig...and it doesn't sound like it was a big investmant.

hindsight-

Well after I bought the truck I realized that it was too early for the 60. But I thought the rest of the parts would be worth it. Oh well- my buddy wants a project so I may just give it to him to wrench on for helping with my K5. Could be fun to through a motor at it, flatbed the rear and bigger tires to make a hauler---

never leap before you look the last 3 trucks ive gone to look at that were (1TONS ) were 3/4 tons . people think just because it has eight lugs it has to be a 1 ton . although if you look hard enough and dont say much you can find the occasional 1 ton prize for very cheap:D
