Waterneck application question

If any of the corroded ones looked like they would work then go to your local parts store with the year/make/model of that vehicle and have them get it for you.

The flex ones are fine from my experience. If you don't like it then keep looking for the right preformed one while it running it. At least you'll be up and running. Bend a coat hanger from the rad to the neck and go looking. Also take your measurment from that hanger so you can buy the right length flex hose.

You could just run some wire reinforced marine wet exhaust hose, it's what I run... Blows any radiator hose away.. Cost ya $10, 15 at West Marine....

I haven't tried it on my K5 not do I know if they fit older intakes , but my IFS rigs 5.7 has a neck and hose that puts the hose in the middle of the radiator , then goes along the top of the radiator , and then 90's into the radiator neck .

I thought about that design, but I already cut the bracket and will re-weld a portion of it back on in a different location. That will put the tensioner right there.
I need to get the hose over to the drivers side then straight forward into the radiator.
I'll try to get some pics when the rain lets up a little bit.

The search is on.

I've seen that marine hose ryoken is using. And I concur, it is strong stuff. I don't know how it is for flexibility, but once you get it how you need it, it won't break. Short of getting in a fight with your fan of course (always replace motor mounts when replacing engines).

The O'Reilly's up here, keeps a few in stock in Murray, and a couple in Mr.Gasket... They should also have a Murray book with pictures of the different water necks in it. So if you're out and aboot maybe stop by and ask to see their Murray book.

Readymix,

I just went through this when I found my upper rad hose was rubbing against the York pully.

For my blazer I made one with a cut flange and a piece of 1.75" DOM tubing bent to the shape i needed. Just another option for ya.

watch out for the cheap ones. sometimes they don't have a full rib around them and the hoses like to slip off.

Well I can weld, but not as well as you Kert....

I betcha you could do it. Thicker the flange the better. Not so much chance of warpage.

Cadillac 500's have a straight up neck as well but if memory serves the pattern is different. The bolts are small on a Caddy water neck as well.

I am sure I could do it just fine. Most of my welds are pretty good.
I am running out of patience for this round of repairs though, so I am sure I will just buy one.

Holy crap ive never seen a forum this long on a simple water neck. give me the measurements and such and ill cut one of mine and weld it and ship it to ya!

A straight-up water neck can be had for a 1991 2wd Burb with the 454. I have one. It works fine. Use the hose for the same year.
