So I figured I would start a thread to keep up with my cheap/free atvs.

The latest one is an ‘88 Polaris Trail Boss 250 2-stroke. My dad had a customer that said it stopped running and didn’t want it anymore. So picked it up last week and brought it home.

Typical moss/mold growing on it from not moving.

And after a quick rinse.

Started messing with it the next day and managed to break the only working method of turning it over. So I was done until I got a new pull handle.

The ID showed that it was a 1988/2wd chassis/2-stroke engine.

Got home tonight with a new pull cord and got that swapped out.

Gave it a couple test pulls to verify I did it right and to see if it would fire off, but no luck on it firing.

So I pulled the intake off and shot it with some ether and it ran for a few seconds. So I knew it was a fuel issue.

It had gas in the tank so I figured it was clogged. After switching the fuel switch to reserve fuel and gave it a pull, it fired off on its own.

Drove it around for about 10min and it seemed to run pretty good, but I couldn’t go too fast as it had no breaks. Like literally, nothing.

So I’ll be bleeding those tomorrow and seeing what I can get.

So the plan is fix broken stuff. Repaint the plastics to either black or red. New tires, something more suited for mud/trail. And a couple racks to help the utility side of its use. Much like this one on them enternets.

My other 2-stroke is a 1997 Yamaha Blaster 250 that some of you know from it getting stolen a little while back and me getting lucky and retrieving it. It currently doesn’t run from what is most likely a bad stator, but I have yet to dig into that. That’s the next project after I get the Polaris going decently.

As it sits in my basement.

And the final turd from my cheap fleet is my son’s 80cc Yamaha Moto4 4-stroke. It’s the only quad that works 100%. We bought this and the other Yamaha from my boss for $1000 a couple years ago, so there’s not Much money into this fleet.

So as you can see they are all old and very out of date, but fun nonetheless.

Just bought this intake tube that was missing. So now the factory intake is located under and infront of the gas tank.

Also pricing some tires. Something that doesn't look so.....ghey.....

Looking at these with a 8in wide front and 11in wide rear.

We've had a little Yamaha Raptor 80 for a while now but we (my Dad and I) aren't familiar with small carbs so we've been fighting issues. Thanks to the amount of time it's sat around, the new battery has gone bad as well so the last time my oldest daughter and I had it apart to look at the carb again and found the fuel tube in it that presses out and you have to clean behind, we couldn't start it because they don't have a pull cord..... Maybe it'll run by fall. Too much other stuff going on right now to have time to get a battery. I know it's a cop out, but damn I'm busy.....
