Weighed The Blazer Today...

I forgot to add that i have a custom rear bumper i built with a swing out tire carrier. Here it is. I'm just finishing up my new front bumper and will get a weight sometime in the near future once it's done.

that rear bumper is sweet. nice job.

I still would have never thought these things were that heavy. It just doesn't look like there is that much there. That means my stripped down 73 K5 weighs close to what my 05 F-150 supercrew 4x4 does. The F-150 feels like it easily weighs twice as much, and if you look under the two trucks, it seems like it should.
Doesn't make sense.

I found a bunch of the original spec sheets, but unfortunately, they do not list a curb weight, only GVWR. I attached one for a 1979. I like the idea of the sticky thread though...that would be sweet.

In a few weeks, I'll let you know what a 24' moving truck, c1500 reg cab p/u on a trailer, and two Suburbans weigh.:eek1:

Then I'll load 'em up and weigh it again. I'm starting to think it would have just been easier to rent a train for all the crap I have to move.:haha:

Mine weighs in right around 5K
Last time I had my 89 K5 on the scales it weighed 5200 LBS with me in it. I weigh around 220.
It had the back seat in it, 33" tires on 10 bolts 33" spare. 1/2 tank of gas. stock bumpers ect.
47-4800 lbs is about right for an older k5. Older K5s will weigh around 250lbs or so less than a newer one The newer tops weigh a little more than the older tops. Plus the full roof over the cab adds some weight.

Well the scale I used got my personal weight right at 220, which is correct. Maybe 230 after this Thursday

I just moved using a 26' moving truck and pulled a 16' trailer with K5 on it. It tipped the scales at just over 26k.

The total weight of the trailer was 5650 with the K5 on it. 1500lbs without the Blazer. Since I had a couple hundred pounds of crap in the Blazer I estimate it at 4000lbs. I have nothing to speak of for an interior. Floor is Herculined, it has racing seats up front, stock vinyl rear, gutted tailgate, soft top, half ton axles, aluminum wheels and 35s. The DIY4X bumpers add a little weight but they are well worth it. Makes it a lot easier to drag around when it breaks down. :D

Well, the CK5 Blazer spec list says a stock 74 should weigh 3931lbs...

Hmmm...

What do you think a backseat weighs???

That'll be close to 1000lbs. over with a backseat...

That may be a published number from the factory, but generally those are "dry" curb weight numbers on as stripped as available (lightest version coming from the factory) models. "Dry" means NO fluids......no gas, oil, coolant, etc...

Scott...really like your rear bumper...would it be possible for you to provide a sketch with dimensions? I would like to copy it.

Well at least steal some design concepts, and call it completely of my own design!:D

J.K. it is a sweet looking bumper:bow:

Thanks. I can get you pretty close with dimensions. I'll work on it and send you a PM in a day or so.

My 87 Stepside weighed in at 4950 with out me in it. Thatsd with both custom bumper and my tool box/ gas tank in the bed with the spare tire rack I made and the 12,000lb winch too. thats with the 14 bolt under it and a dana 44.

Thought I'd bring this back up since I weighed the blazer...

Came in at 5360 lbs, without me in it and loaded with gear...

Specs...

350, th400, np205, d60 front, 14bff rear, 38.5 SX's, full hydro, propane with two tanks mounted(one full), all the body cut off except for the firewall and windshield hoop, then caged and skinned...

I'll post up pics of it after this weekends run...

The scrapyard put mine at close to 5400lbs with the top on, back seat in and 1.5 passengers. That's with a setup a lot like 4x4High, with a custom rear bumper with spare tire. There is double padding under the carpet, rear panels are 3/4" MDF with subs and stuff. Axles are 10b/14b S/F. 35" radials on 15" aluminum wheels. Full factory options like power windows, A/C, etc.

After talking with a few friends and how they had their trucks set up... I am expecting mine to come in at almost 7,000lbs. Thats 1 tons, big block... 44s... bumpers.... 16.5 Warn.
