I just went out and checked my extension cord that I bought for my Lincoln 225. It's 40' of 10/3, and it came from a welding supplier. I've been using it for about 10 years without problem.

well I couldnt find wire big enough locally... so I went to home depot
bought a 50' extension cord (10/3) and bright yellow and put the 240v ends on it and it works great.. plus yellow so people see it laying there and dont trip... think my cost was $75
