hmm nobody has anything to say?

At least wait a couple of hours…it was about 4 AM on the left coast when you first posted.

If you don’t do a whole lot of welding I wouldn’t buy that spendy of a helmet. I use a $20 auto-darkening that a buddy bought from a truck off the side of the road as kind of a joke and it actually works really well for the amount of welding I do.

Between the two you posted they look to be the same helmet with different graphics. If you have the cash and want to spend it get the one you want, they’re both pretty good helmets and will work well.:thumb:

why auto darkening? if you are not going to use it a lot then why spend $200 on a helmet? I have used them, some are not the quickest, you still get flash. I prefer a fixed glass or flip style like this one.

then you would have money left over for other tools, like a good set of welding gloves, slag hammer, grinder, and sleeves. I use my sleeves all the time. especially when I am doing a lot of grinding.

get the auto dark, you will probably find you WILL weld more and more since you are getting into it.

Do not go cheap on welding helments, it's your eyes. Go for the auto, it's worth it even if you only weld once in a while.

My opinion.

i got a lincon eletric auto...i havnt used it yet but i think they are like 100 bucks at home depot...hopefully it works well but i think it will cause they have always made good products...

I might as well put in my .02 cents.

I have a miller XLi and I like it. You can get a hobart hood for less and its also nice, the miller just has more adjustments, but you have a gift card so I guess it doesn't really matter anyway.

Buy the good one it has a quicker response. I have a miller big window elite and I love my helmet. And if anyone is getting flashed with an auto darkning helemt they need to check the settings or buy a better one.

I have only been flashed when I was in a tight spot under my rig and covered up the light sensor. Boy did that suck:doah: .

Yeah I have been flashedbecause I forgot to turn on my helmet but then again that was human error but other then that you should never be flashed with a auto dark helmet

Are you serious???

Try welding in a confined space where you are accidently blocking one or more of the sensors. You'll get flashed, and it has nothing to do with the settings.

Bought this a few years ago when auto-dark helmets were still something you had to order, and they certainly didn't cost $50. Bought the helmet, and ordered an autodark module that fits in a standard welding glass space. Paid entirely too much. If I waited < 18months, thats when HF put the $50 helmet in their catalog.
