My floors are swiss cheese but also so powdery I can tell if I have spot welds or these are weldinged all the way around. I want to cut the old ones out and throw in some remanufactred ones.

Question is where do these get welded to? Is there some ears these tack to or what? I'm scared to cut the old one out to I know more. Has anyone did this on here? Pictures would be great.

There is no useable metal to weld to is what you are saying?

Negative, what I'm saying is I cant tell if theres seperate metal from the floors to the sidewalls and not sure when its welded to below being the tank and rear is in the way. No sure if someone has some resto pictures where they have thier bed ripped up and prepped.

you need to buy the 2 rear floor panels before you cut.. it'll be obvious at that point.. the floors go all the way to the wheelwell and sidewall, with a 1" tab hanging down... but the aftermarkets don't go all the way to the front, just to the front of the wheelwell or so...

here, I went and dug this pic out for ya.. it only shows what it looks like torn down.. from this point I went with a custom substructure and floor.. but you can see where it attachs to the wells and sides...

depending on what yr, it is mostly bolted in, with weld at the back tailpan, c-post and b-posts up front..... the older 70's rigs have more bolts than the post 80's..... basically the whole sidewall, and well, are bolted to that 1" hanging floor flange I mentioned.. you can see the holes at the bottom for that...

My advice is ......you are in Texas so save yourself a very big headache ..
Save up & find another tub that is rust free .....
you will spen less money in the long run ... if your floors are bad it usually is alot worse once you start tearing into it....

Started out was just going to replace the rockers with some square tube & replace the quarterpanels

Found more rust in the rear floor

Thought about replacing the floor

Then the sawzall got away from me
when i found more rust in the floor behind the front seats

then I said see ya later rusty body

I found a tub locally that was from Texas .....:D
IMG_0686.JPG

Sandblasted the tub inside & out ..
epoxy primed it ...
top coated it..
Sprayed it with bedliner inside & out

Also blasted & painted the frame

Now I just have to paint it & put it all back together ......
