Thanks! I need all the help I can get, my welds don't have the "stack of dimes" look, they have more of a "stack of gum wads" appearance.

Mine look more like bird turds!...but they seem to hold whatever I've welded--so far...

My welding skills definately took a nosdive after my eyes got cataracts ,and my vision degraded a lot--now that I had them removed and prescription lens implants put in,I can see fairly well,but cant seem to focus well on a weld..

I'm paranoid about getting slag or hot metal in my eyes more than ever now due to that..I want to get a self darkening mask,I think a lot of my welding woes are cause by my old fashioned mask more than anything else..
I also dont weld often enough to get good at it--seems like if I start a project needing a lot of welds,they get better as I go along..then I wont weld for a long time,and its back to square one again..
