Well everyone has a build thread so I might as well start one too.

The k5 was bought brand new from the dealership by my granddaddy in 86. He drove that for years and then sold it to my uncle. I inherited my rig from my Uncle, who passed away in Oct 04.

When I got the K5 it had sat out for 2 years with the back window busted out. I took her home and did a complete tune up on it.

These pics show the interior dismantled. Look how bad those seats were! I chunked the carpet because it was ruined. The interior cleaned up nicely with a can off tuffstuff and a lot of elbow grease.

I drove and wheeled it stock for about a year with 31x10.50 Kelly AT's.
Here are some action shots of the rig.

After wheeling, the rear axle seals went out in the stock ten bolt so my cousin and I tore it down and replaced the seals and the brakes. These 2 pictures show the mess with all the gear oil mixed with the brake dust.

After wheeling it, I installed a 4 inch rancho lift that I got from my cousin. The kit consisted of front 4 inch springs and 4 inch rear blocks, ubolts ect.

I installed Procomp ES3000 Shocks.

I kept my 31's and factory wheels.

I dont have any shots of the install but here are some from after the fact.

I wheeled it this way until this passed summer, when I broke my rear axle shaft in the 10 bolt. Here are some pictures of the broken shaft, the old 10 bolt and the 14 bolt full floater I swapped in.

Then I installed some towhooks that I bought from a fellow CK5 member. Here are the hooks as I got them, then primed and painted.

That is how it currently sits. I have wheeled with the truck in the current setup and it does well. Next on the list are 2 inch rear add-a-leaves and 6 inch Tuff Country Springs that I ordered from ORD.

Steven was a great guy to deal with! Props to ORD for excellent Customer Service.

The springs should come in next week sometime. Expect pics to follow.

Future plans that need to get done before shiloh in april are:

1. DIY Shackle flip

2. ORD bolt in steering box brace

3. New tires as these are getting a little worn

4. Lockright for the rear.

Lookin' good Dustin! Or should I say, Manny Jr? :haha:

Get all that stuff on in time for the April Rodeo at Shiloh! Your truck is too clean. It needs some MUD!

Keep up the good work. Lemme know if ya need a hand wrenchin'.

hell yeah!!!in a few years it will be all chopped up.

Probably so. haha

However, the goal is to keep the body fairly straight due to the sentimental value of her.

The tires already started kissing the rear of the front fenders and screwed up the chrome trim, hence going up taller on the springs.

Well yall I got my 6inch lift installed. I didnt get to take any in progress pics because I did it at night and by myself.

Anyway, I installed 6 inch tuff country easy-ride front springs. I have 2 inch tuff country add a leaves in the rear and the 4 inch blocks I was running before.

Here are some pictures.

The truck does seem to drive ok. I dont really notice any vibes in the shafts. It handles and rides smooth.

I guess I don't need this anymore, due to the fact that it wouldn't reach the springs anyway. Driving the truck without the sway bar is fine. It's like it was never there in the first place.

n29600599_32880535_4904.jpg

Now I have a few Questions. The pics below are in order of the questions.

1. Is my slipyoke out too far? Should I get it lengthended?

2. How does my rear pinion angle look? I think its ok because there are really no vibes to speak of.

3. How does my front pinon angle look? I think it might be ok because there were no vibes when I locked it in 4wd last night but I want to check anyways.

4. Is there enough slip in the front shaft or do I need a spacer?

5. What should I do about the shaft hitting the exhaust?

For the exhaust, I had to have mine routed down toward the bottom of the skid plate. Not a big deal though. I had a 6" lift as well. Can try to get a pic later if you want one.

I'd love to see a pic of how you have it routed. I need some ideas.

You can see whrer they cut the original exhaust off and put a lower crossover pipe on. It is not lifted as much now but had a 6' lift with this set up.

it's scary how much your k5 (stock) looked like my 82. apparently the previous owner swapped in an 85 grille on mine. so, i like your truck :D.

is there room to route the exhaust ABOVE the shaft. i've wanted to do that to mine for a while, so it's out of harm's way. eyeballing, it looks doable.
