Well guys, I'm FINALLY back!

Okay, replaced the battery tray, battery terminals and got a new optima red top. My dad randomly texted me the other day, and offered to buy me some mile marker hubs to replace my current automatic hubs. Now keep in mind, since I joined the Navy I'm not even remotely dependant on my dad. He did not have to do this and it definitely saved me some cash. You would have to be ****ing dumb to turn down free parts! Anyway, I pulled codes today. I got code 32, which is an EGR failure. I would assume that a new EGR valve would fix that, what do you think?

Could also be the egr solenoid, you can test the egr valve if you have a vacuum pump

I do not have a vacuum pump, however I went out and bought new EGR valve and solenoid today, the only issues are as follows A) the bolts on the EGR are a mother f#&$ER to get to, any tips? And B) does ANYONE have the correct part number for the solenoid? Advance auto has sold me the wrong part twice now.

Looking for the EGR solenoid, if the one you showed me is correct then I have no idea where the hell it's supposed to go lol

For future reference, the correct part number is EGR226. The salesman wanted to argue with me 'The computer shows its EGR219' completely wrong.

Okay, now I have a real issue guys!! I replaced the EGR, put everything back together, the truck started right up. I turn it off, and try to start it again and nothing. I can hear the start engage, but that's it. Can the K5 gods help me solve this!?

Sometimes sh*t happens. And I dunno what your opinion is on replacing starters, but the 96+ Vortec starters are the best upgrade you can give them old Gen 1 engines. I mean not really, but its worth the swap. Much better.

That is my best guess too, went out and looked the cables to the starter are severely corroded, went to disconnect it and clean it but the damn cables snapped!

Just an update on the build, I was able to fix the starting issue. The old starter was completely dead lol. As for the positive battery cable, I ended up just cutting it from the battery side, and pulling it out through the starter side and the running a new one down. But as usual, something else broke. I suspect it's been broken for awhile, but in the process of fixing the EGR I must have put the finishing touch on the positive lead stud on the alternator, it broke off completely. Gonna buy a new alternator before I go to alaska (December 18th thru January 11th) and install it. Figure I might as well get a new belt while I'm at it. Anybody got the part numbers for the V belt, and an alternator (preferably remanned) with the v belt pulley?
