Well, I finallly did it!

no, he's busy playing with himself because he's getting a cummins. too busy for the blazer. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Right now I don't give a rats butt about my blazer. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Maybe when I get around to it I might play with it but I will never hack it because it's a rust free truck. I will probably either remove my welds and run some steelies and wheel it a little or sell it.

[/ QUOTE ]

/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Did I miss a post or something explaining why you now hate your truck?

P.S. Very nice Dodge...hope you enjoy it!

[/ QUOTE ] I like my blazer but it is seriously inferior compared to my new HD dodge. I am tired of wrenching on it every other time I want to go somewhere in it, cops staring at me, feeling like I'm 16 when I drive it, no A/c anymore, a terrible ride and handling, 8 mpg, I could go on. i am tired of throwing money at it because I already have 20K invested and it still isn't painted nor is the interior fresh.
I finally have something extremely nice, very powerfull, good fuel mileage, as good as it basically gets for towing, is more compfortable, and looks so much nicer. now I will get "wow, nice truck" instead of "your still not finished with that damn money pit?" Most importantly now I have something RELIABLE and in my line of business there is no room for broken down vehicles.

ANY freakin' way this thread is about my new dodge cummins, not my blazer. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif Any more questions about my dodge? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

[/ QUOTE ] I figured I would get some immature, jealous sounding post from you. That is very mature of you, thanks.
Besides, what do you care if I have time for my K5 or not, you used to take a shot at it whenever possible. /forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif

What kind of mileage do you guys think ill get? I'm figuring 20 empty on the freeway, especially with the 3.55's.

Automatic, 3.55 gears, and an extended cab longbed.......

That's about the gayest excuse for a Diesel powered truck I've ever heard of.

God awful ugly, probably won't pull a greased string from a cat's ass with those gears, and of course we all know the auto won't last long.

You can keep it. At least my raggedy ass tow rig has decent gears.

What crawled into you box of wheeties /forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif...WTF was that all about /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif..he bought a new truck and wanted to share that and to have a asshat remark like that is uncalled for..

BTW Nice truck..

Nice Truck. I used to have a 99 Dodge 1/2 ton with a 360 in it. put 9"s of lift on it and ran 39.5 Tsl's on it. went mudding alot with it and never had any problems.

Very nice truck. I have owned two Dodge 2500's since 93 when the body style changed, and they are great. Do watch the tranny though, they can be a nightmare if you have problems (I would have opted for the manual). I would get a Banks "Git kit " in it ASAP. Then you will never get that grin off your face.

Nice truck. I only have one major gripe though

[ QUOTE ]
I originally wanted a short bed but after seeing a couple up close I thought the long bed looked better.

[/ QUOTE ]

You bought your 3/4 ton diesel based on on how it looked? Not which one will tow better, not on how you use the bed, not on what you haul, but which looked better. /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif

And tim,

[/ QUOTE ]

Are you on something over there? Extended cab longbed's will give way better stability than your single cab while giving you somewhere dry to keep more junk, and they have 3.55's because with a heavy load behind them you cant use OD and the engine tach's out before 3K. It will still pull plenty. Agreed on the auto though, not a big fan, especially a dodge.

Now RJF, make sure before you start plugging stuff in you go learn more about diesels.

In Tim's defense, rjfguitar did say

[ QUOTE ]
Thanks. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Questions, comments anyone?

[/ QUOTE ]

That is Tim's comment. Not very well spoken but none the less, he voiced his opinion.

I for one would have said, "Glad you like your new truck" and kept my true opinion to myslef so,

Glad you like your new truck, those gears will be ok for towing. Get some gauges and monitor that tranny. It will hate you for your gear choice if you tow heavy loads a lot. Don't forget to tell Tim he is number one when you are passing him at 80MPH on the highway with 12K behind you and he is in your rear view saying, "I sure do love my 4.10 gears"

[/ QUOTE ]

Got one more question about your Dodge...how much did you pay for it?

I, for one, like it a lot. There's a lot of merit in knowing when you're in too deep with a "project" vehicle. It probably makes sense for you to get something that is more reliable. I know that when I'm out of college, I'm getting a 2500 HD with the Duramax/Allison combo. It will be my daily driver and also the tow rig for my 'burb (which will definitely be going under the knife).

Anyway, congrats on the truck. I didn't mean to change subject before. Be happy for the nice truck you just bought. All those people that said it sucks are just jealous! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

One more thing that I have to say...

How many of the guys above that said "it will suck for towing" have towed with the exact same vehicle/setup?

Using Florida4x4's gear calc, with 3.55's in OD at 75mph, you should be turning between 2000 and 2200 rpm. That would be TERRIBLE if it were a gas engine. BUT, we're dealing with a freaking diesel here. Not to mention a Cummins. There will be a lot of power there, and redline is only about 800-1000 rpm above that.

I hope it does tow well for you (not even sure if that's what you'll be doing with it).

[ QUOTE ]

EDIT: is it a 2001.5? It would have 4 wheel discs if so. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. Also if it was built after January '01 it may not have the CAD mechanism on the D60.

I love it. I can't wait to get mine. I'm going manual though. Although I am surprised you went with a sport beings as there is no chrome on it...no bling /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I'm going long bed too... short beds just look out of place on em.

Go easy on the trans. Had one that didn't last 30,000 and Dodge wouldn't back it up.

[/ QUOTE ]Really. I have heard over at TDR that it seems you either get a good one thats lasts a long time or one that doesn't. Reminds me of a th700. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif Thats basically why I don't mind the mileage, which really isn't much, because it'll be that much sooner an ATS 47RE will be in and the sooner I don't have to worry about it. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

just put on a huge trany cooler asap and you will get a long life out of it -- and that is a sweet truck /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

[/ QUOTE ] I bought my new diesel because it has an ISB cummins, dana 60 front, and dana 80 rear end. I am not afraid of the 47RE auto much at all, if it goes, it does. THe built ATS trannies have a great rep and I will just have to pop one in. Of COURSE I PICKED IT BECAUSE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!!! am I stoooopid???? I figured if I am going to spend that kind of money for what I want. Which was a red sport with black leather and your giving me a bad time for choosing that? /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif The drivetrain is basically the same in all of them so why ot buy the color and interior I want. /forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif The 3.55's should be perfect, nice and low cruising in OD and I won't tach out loaded in direct drive. Oh and I know enough about these motors, don't worry about me.

Timmy,

Sounds like mommy didn't teach you much about diesels did she?
1. ALmost all of the newish cummins powered dodges come standard with 3.55's.
2. The computer is set at 2900RPMS on the ISB, that means you don't have the RPM range that a good 'ol '76 C30 with a 454 that tops out in th4K region....with 4.10's or even 4.56's thats perfect. Now with 3.55's and an ISB cruising down the highway empty at 14-1500 rpms will be perfect because my ISB makes more power at that RPM than your tbi350 ever thought imaginable. Fuel mileage should be at it's best. Now throw 10K behind it and pull it down to 3rd and go. Now I am in the motors best RPM range even at 70-80 MPH.

P.S. I have a question about your tow rig....Did you have to stack the phone books on the seat and block on the pedels yourelf or was that factory equipped. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
