at work the other day we got a dodge 3500 4x4 cummins 6 speed in. he just had the frt drive shaft remaned at local drive line shop. well with it being newer dodge it has no center axle disc unit and no hubs. so he found out just how long a non lubed on reman or missed bad part on reman a c/v unit will go before blow up/melt down.
he pulled in fresh from somewere in ok state on his way back from someplace. he had the front shaft in the back along with the bottom 1/2 of the tcase frt output in all. he had no tools in truck with him as he never needs any basicly. so he took the snaped off unit in hand and pulled it from the frt slip unit. then pulled in to nearest shop and had them cut the chain off the 1/2 tcase still in truck. and remove the frt slip and joint.
he said well i guess i can wait about 1 week here for parts and install or go home and see if she will make it or not. well she made it home and to our shop.
