What year did the large late 60s Monte begin? I thought it was 68? Maybe 70? Am I wrong? Pic of the engine is in my gallery.

1970 was the first year for MC. If you're sure your 427 is 68 vintage, it had to be Vette, or B body. The Monte SS's were 454's.

Edit:The 385 HP version 427 was only in B body (in 68). Was either IJ/IS/or IC code

[/ QUOTE ] A friend has a 1970 Monte Carlo factory big block (402) factory 4-speed manual transmission non SS. Very rare car, I think he said one of 255 ever made. He also has a 1969 ZL1 Camaro. Kinda cool knowing a car collecter. Wish I had the money for toys like that.

Yeah, the SS's had the 454's. So you're right. I knew a guy who had one as well (402/4 spd.). Do you mean Z11 (Indy sport convertible pkg.), not ZL1? Yeah, must be nice to have money to have those kind of toys. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif I thought I'd read a post that said you did??? /forums/images/graemlins/pimp1.gif
