Just a quick question. This last weekend I broke the u-joint at the top of the rear drive shaft. No big deal. but when it broke it sheered the knuckle or yoke(not sure on the actual name) that comes out the rear of the transfer case. Is there any special way this comes out. It looks like it should just unbolt and slide out. My question is are there any of those little suprises that always seem to show up when something looks easy or does it really just unbolt?

Last Question:
Does anybody know what to torgue the nut to on the yoke coming out of the t-case?
Thanks for all the help.

Re: What am I in for?

I have an slipyoke setup, but I'm guessing its just like a axle diff yoke. Pipe wrench on the yoke and bump it off with the air inpact, should slip off by hand or with a 2jaw puller and you might get a little fluid come out with it. That's about all know.

thanks for the response. Got it off this morning and a new one's on it's way when I get the drive shaft back from balancing.

Re: What am I in for?

actually I'm still not sure when or how it broke. I was up with the mammoth lakes/eastern sierra 4x4 club on one of our trips. It was a slow and easy trail nothing to bad. I never heard or felt anything go until I got back out on the highway to head home. I ended up driving from mammoth to the valley with no rear shaft and running front wheel drive. When I got home besides this mess I had oil everywhere which I think is coming from the breather from the front diff from running so long in front wheel drive. Also I broke my right rear shock right out of the frame. All this on an easy run. oh well it happens I guess. http://community.webshots.com/album/192447174UssGvp/0
