What am I not thinking of?

ok, i've got something going on with the front end on my k-5, and i haven't found anything wrong. perhaps i'm missing something?

its a 82 with the d44 front end, ord swaybar disconnects, 4 inch lift,35 inch tires..
when driving over curbs, speed bumps, large pot holes, i get what sounds to me as a loud metal on metal clank, thud, thump (pick one). feels as if the front end is falling off.
i have checked my ball joints, my power steering gear box (sector shaft is slightly worn) no cracks in the frame, tie rod and ends are new, hubs new, drag link is worn..but i don't think thats what is making the noise, leaf springs have newer poly bushings, all bolts are tight, u bolts ae tight. shackle bolts tight, all bushings in execellent shape. so is there something that i'm missing that i should check? the noise comes from the drivers side.
its got to be something that i'm not thinking of right now....
thanks in advance for the help

I know you said all bolts are tight, but are the shocks tight at both ends, and the proper spacer is in place at the top? (Just noticed on my dads that Big O tires installed his front shocks without the upper spaces, they rub on the frame. )

Only things loose on my truck so far were the shocks loosening up, and the tranny crossmember bolts loosening up.

My jack had worked itself loose under the hood on passenger fender....had me puzzled for a while!

yep shocks are good, and all bolts and spacers are snug.

I also have that same mystery noise in mine. It is a stock 83 though. It was realy bad till I replaced the tire rod ends.

check crossmembr bolts''the one the motor mounts to'' mine worked free from flexing a lot.

Ah, beware of that thought! Ever looked for something for hours only to find it the next day right in front of you? Is it a heavy sound or a light one? Do you see any shiny metal from metal to metal contact? Loose a socket somewhere?

yeah its a heavy sound, i haven't found any shiny metal areas, sounds and feels almost like the front axle is about to fall off.

how are the inner fenders?

i know on my 86 the were just floping around in the fender making a bunch of noise when i hit bumps, then one day one fell off and the noise was gone

This will without a doubt be the dumbest suggestion, but, lug nuts all tight? The ones most taken for granted are the ones most overlooked.

yep lugs are good, check them periodiocally...
