What are everyone's past and/or present with the 6.2 and 6.5 Detriot Diesel Engines?

I might just go ahead and second suburban that is a diesel and keep my gas one.

That way when fuel prices goes up I'll have the diesel on stand by
If your goal is to save money, then this plan will do nothing more than suck more money out of your pocket. You would not save enough money in fuel usage between the two fuel versions to justify the cost of two vehicles. Even if you were GIVEN a 2nd Suburban with a 6.2, you'd still be in the hole after a year or 2. Buying one set of tires..... an oil change, insurance+ registration, brakes....

Here's some math..... if a tbi350 averaged 13 and a 6.2 averaged 20. In order to save a measely $1000, you'd have to drive the diesel 13,000 miles MORE then the gas version. 13K....... who here puts 13K per year on a square body GM truck? Almost no one anymore. One set of new tires for the diesel suburban and you just spent your $1K that you saved in 1 year, IF you drove it 13K a year.....AND you still have insurance/reg/maintenance due for that year, for it too....

FYI guys, I have a p30 NA 6.5 that comes with the "big" injection pump. Just had my pump rebuilt to 4911 specs for when I swap it in place of my 82 6.2.
