What are your SAS plans?

sweet! glad to see you got it done man

your front axle kinda looks a lil far back from those pics, guess ill we will have to see more pics to tell for sure. but i love the stance! you have pretty much the same lift to tire size as I do :D

I ended up moving the axle 1.5 or so forward from the 70" if you were talking about those pics.

It looks pretty mean with those 38.5s in the meantime but I'm planning on going 37s and probably doing some fender trimming since the rear doesnt seem to have much room. Lot of work but its was worth it. If feels like a SFA cadillac :D

I guess I never posted any
previously  <-- what a lazy SOB

I have GOOD pics from removing
all the IFS junk and the early phases
of building the new front suspension.
At that point I lost my camera though
so I had to rely on the 1.3 megapixel
camera phone. heres some pics to
summarize the build until then:

I know it's an old thread.

How much was the kit when you got it? It's a "cage" kit right?

How is it holding up so far?

Anything you would do differently?

Ah old thread but I figured Id add to it.
I have a 98 crew cab long bed.
My plans are to drop a 91 drivers drop ford d60 in it. 3 link, panhard bar, foa coilovers, keeping it low at about 5-6 inchs of lift from stock. I want to beable to keep my 35s, and still beable to put my cab over camper on the back. It would be nice if it was done by june/july but I have been sitting on parts for over a year. I even have a parts truck to do the swap to first so I dont take my out of commission.

I have thought long and hard about SAS on my 98 Suburban, and i still dont know if its worth it. I really dont plan on taking it anywhere i might need a Solid Axle for, but i love the way the Excursions look when they are lifted. I think the Suburban would look even better. Then i also think about how the ride would be. My Suburban is the family station wagon. So would the ride suck on long trips compared to the IFS. I think so. Decisions Decisions:confused:

They do look real cool though;)

sorry for taking so long but I'm glad this thread is going again, I like talking SAS.

Trucknutz, I just bought and used the radius arms from cage, I didn't buy a whole kit. its less than the kit they sell for the newer chevys but I want to say it was still like $600 :/ Basically I got cage radius arms, ORU steering, coilovers, and custom fabbed most everything else.

So far I havent broken anything on it except a U-joint on the axle. I have jumped the truck multiple times and driven it hard in the desert. At some point I'll tear it down in a few years and 4 link it hopefully.
