What build specs just flat work?

a lot of this site is about experimentation and trying new things. well, what if a guy didn't want to try new things, what if, a guy wants to build something that will work?

what combos of parts will guaranteed results on the trail? think of it as "this is way to easy" builds. doesn't haven't to be just Chevys.
