I just bought a race truck from a friend, it has a 450 to 475horsepower 383 the I am going to pull out and put in my 1986 3/4ton suburban. It has a edelbrock 750 on it but it is a peace of crap. I was thinking about getting a Holley truck avenger. Do I need a 770 or the 670. My Burban is a daily driver/ weekend warrior, I have been told the 650 is what I need, but other tell me that that is not big enough for this motor. I don't want to get the 770 if it is not necessary and will do nothing but burn more fuel. I could really use some help here I will be pulling this motor and preparing to put it in my suburban very soon.

Q-jet, seriously.

Don't read any hot-rod stuff, the 750 CFM (sometimes 800 or 850 in big block applications) Q-jet is more than you'll need. Plus it will run at nearly any angle and get better economy than any other carb. Unless you're running 500+hp, I really doubt that a Q-jet is costing you any power.

Get rid of that Edel-crap and get a Holley :waytogo:

The truck avenger will take some time to dial in fully, but it'll be your best bet for a carb.

Have used a Holley Truck Avenger tuned with an O2 meter Was not completely happy with it. Now running an SMI built Q-jet. Byfar a much better driver and wheeler. MPG went up too.

You have a high performance engine, you need a high performance carb. Holley is the way to go.

I would think a big Jet or SMI performance q-jet, this is the way I'm going the next time I've got $400 bills to blow.

Is this to much motor for a 650, do I need the 750? Has anyone used a demon carb off road and if they are good for that what demon would I need to run

I had a 650 Demon on my truck and it worked great on and off the road. It took some time to get it dialed in right but I had no problem with off camber situations or hills.
