Hey I am starting the hunt for another CD player for the K5 and I was wondering what everybody else is running ? I have heard Alpines are good for not skipping and heard good and bad about Sony but there is so many Figured I would poll the audiance

Aiwa CDC-mp3: it's a good unit and plays anything and everything but it has a habbit of skipping.

i got some cheapo pioneer in mine...doesn't skip, but has faceplate issues. My last one was a 7 year old pioneer premier. Id recommend those in a heartbeat.

i have a pioneer... cheap one, and it works great... the coolest part was when i tipped my truck it didnt skip a beat the whole entire time...

2 chamber Flowmasters (I don't need no stinking CD player!) :saweet:

Well let see I have in my Black K-5 Alpine CDA-7837 Head unit and a CHA-S614 CD Changer. I love this deck so much I bought one for my White K-5 (need to get another CHA changer). I also have an extra Alpine CDM-7834. I love that old $hit....

Pioneer DEH-P6700MP I love it. Other than paying $180 for it and then $120 for Circuit City to fix the hack job wiring PO had done.

I have had awesome luck with Pioneers in the 4x but have a nice Alpine in the tow rig and aquired a lower end alpine for the 4x so will try that.

Mine came with a Kenwood that the PO installed. It seems to work OK. Only skips when I'm on something really bumpy and listening to a burnt CD.

usually a stock system is fine by me, I'm not much of an audio guru. As long as it sounds pretty good at a somewhat loud level, that's enough for me.

I run a Nice Alpine in my S - Blazer with MP3 capabilitys, its really nice to have 180+ songs on a cd for long hauls. It skips somestimes but only if its a really good bump.

I have a really old Pioneer Mosfet DEH something or other in my K10. Only time it ever skipped on me was when I was hauling serious tail down a washboard road.

For the money I would recoment Pioneer. I like my Alpine but I many bought it back when I had planned on putting a "system" in my blazer. I just want some good sounding speakers now.

My Sony works fine , and without any super visual eye candy to drag the price up . I also get high and low pass filters , 7 band eq , front and rear rca's , subwoofer rca's , mp3 playback , and a remote . Works for me .

Works great if I keep it clean , AZ is dusty , and the dash gets it the most , Needs cleaned only if I go on several trips out in a month .

Now my Sony changer I had before never missed a beat , and I never put a cleaning disc anywhere near it .

They have one out this year with a one gig mp3 player faceplate you can load up in the house via usb .

Pioneer DEH-P6800MP in the Blazer.

JVC KD-ADV6270V just ordered for the RV

Both have Sirius and the MP3 ability is awesome.

My biggest Issue is skipping!!! I HATE it!!!

So don't use a CD player!

Go get an ipod (or whatever MP3 player you like) burn all your CD's to it, and get one of those combination cigarette lighter plug/holder/FM broadcaster setups for like $40.

No skipping, easily removed, and you can run some cheap stereo that no one will ever be interested in stealing. :)
