What Color is This?

It's a '73 isn't it? I found this... but I don't know if that was a factory offered color or not... closest I could find though.:o

We went round and round on this already. Pretty sure that is a '74, not a '73. The '74 color chart shows at least two yellows that could be that color...:doah:

Can you tell me what the paint color code is from the door tag or the glovebox....that would nail it down. You are right, that 74 is a shade or two darker....

I think it's going to end up being "Sunset Gold" but I would like to know what the real code is off the 73 and the 74.

Don't forget too that the differences in film, camera, TV, tape/DVD player, video card and monitor all have a huge effect on the "hue" of colors.

That color most likely did not look like that if you could go back to '74 and hold your monitor next to the truck.

I'd pick the closest one and go with it.

Hope it works out for you.

Notice the lack of a recessed grill on the K5 from the movie Jaws. I would say it is a 75 model. 73-74 had a recessed grill while the 75 had a flush grill. Easiest way to distingush a 75 from the 73-74 models.

That would almost be impossible....the movie was finished by the fall of 1974...all the film was canned and edited...the Vineyard and the Blazer were long gone by then.
Just sayin....

I don't know Corey, that looks like a 73/74 grill to me.

just for the record..... as someone who worked collision and has weighed out a TON of paint formula's, something to be aware of is that MANY colors have direct factory variations...

what i mean is, there may be one, or there could 5 slight variations of that same color.... it all depends on what plant it was made in, mostly... usually the variations are referred to as standard, lighter, darker, redder, greener, yada, yada..... most colors have at least 1 or 2 variations... ESPECIALLY the american big 3...

but i have seen upwards of 11 variations.... :eek1: :doah:yup, Chrysler Ice Blue from the 80's/90's (ghey light greenish blue you'd see on Omni's, etc) freakin color was always a nightmare....

the only guys who'll know this are the ones looking at the formula as they weigh it out... just so you guys are aware of this... a "standard" mix will probably be fine for you Brody on an overall paintjob... but if anyone is ever trying to match a color, it's something to ask your paint guy, "hey, are there any variations on this one" like i said, what plant is was produced in, according to the vin determines that usually... usually... production yr does matter too.. if the date is an 11 or 12 of any year, it is the following yr.....

Guys... Keep in mind you're talking about Hollywood here.

Don't assume that just because it's "yellow" it's a factory yellow. Odds are good that they painted it to "look good" in the scenes, they wouldn't care about what the factory did.

If your trying to make us sound stupid Greg your doing a good job at it. :doah:

I am going with Kansas Twister's paint color code...I really do believe that is the same one...his pickups are washed out by the sun, but I would bet sharks to donuts that's the color I want.

Yes, but I talked with Carl Gottlieb, the writer of Jaws and an actor in the movie....he said there was nothing remarkable about any of the cars that were in the movie. They didn't paint these cars in the movie...
Although I agree that film and processing would maybe set the color off a shade...

"Didn't you check out these Blazers? Weeellll! It wasn't a painting accident, it wasn't a mistaken swatch...and it wasn't Earl Scheib!....
It was a Ditzel!

(hope ya'll caught the humor)
