What Color is This?

If your trying to make us sound stupid Greg your doing a good job at it. :doah:

I wasn't trying to oversimplify or belittle anyone.... as enthusiasts we sometimes forget that there ARE other possible answers out there besides being 100% factory correct! :D

Hollywood is notorious for taking "liberties" with facts in movies and for changing things to make a story more exciting. Does anyone remember when the Chevy drove easily across the molten lava in "Dante's Peak"???

In retrospect, a movie like "Jaws" probably didn't have the budget to go out and repaint a bunch of vehicles....they were blowing their budget trying to make the mechanical shark (Bruce) operate in a believable way...

Cheif, are you actually going to try to build a "tribute K5" of the Brodie truck? That would be really cool IMHO. :waytogo:

Yes...but it will look normal most of the time until I go to JawsFest or the local Sonic...Like will have magnetic decals for the doors...

This whole thing has been born out of a childhood desire to have "one of them trucks like Cheif Brody drove"....I loved that thing since I first saw the movie at 10 years old in 1975.
I am just now at a point in my life where I needed to buy a new vehicle and instead of going into debt for $45k for an Avalanche or a Tahoe, I decided it was time to fulfill a lifelong dream....
I hope that I am able to do this, with the knowledge that I have and the help of others, you guys on the Forum and some I will have to pay to do things that I just don't know how to do.

The only things I will do different are to install a real roll bar and I want to add "dampening" any place I can...I want to make it as pleasurable to drive as it is to look at.

I was looking at a brochure not long ago and I don't know if it is correct or not, but it said that only 44,000 1973 and 1974 Blazers were made...that's 88,000 total...do you realize how few that is? After rust, wrecks, Cash for clunkers...that's not a lot...a fairly rare vehicle. I am completely stoked to try this.
A lot of this has to do with an unhealthy obsession with the movie Jaws as well...but movie or no movie, you got to admit...the fully convertable Blazer is a really, really special truck.

"That's some bad hat Harry"......

For accessories, I figure I need some authentic "No Swimming by order of the Amity PD"

and of course...let Polly do the printing!

the funniest part was dads truck rusted like no other, but where the paint was on the hood it always shined so bright. Never got washed even haha, if you cant tell. He bought it at an estate sale with 27k miles, so its original, excluding two water pumps couple sets of points a carb float and a set of timing gears at 180k. I spaced out on this today (helping girlfriend with her new place) but ill look tomorow.

see this?

Thank You! Kansas Twister....I'll be danged, it was Sunset Gold....

I am not having any luck with any of the paint stores finding #537 Sunset Gold.

I have been told that it is actually 527 "Yellow Gold", which when I look at the color I can see that it is not that color...it is too dark. It is the color of the pickup on the trailer...too dark.

I do not understand why 537 Sunset Gold isn't showing up in anybody's chip charts....

Wll...nothing's easy is it Cheif?

537 sunset gold

Do you have the VIN on that one so I can get the interior color code from GM?
I am looking at the SEM ColorCoat chart and the "Saddle" color they have looks too dark....I looked at Craig Artzner's Blazer again and his dash almost looks "Camel"...
If I could get the correct GM code I could be sure...
