THe NV4500 came stock in the 1993 and on Chevy pickups, as well as te 1993 and on Dodges. the 2 have slightly different input, and outputs, and the different years have different gear ratio's in them.

yep, they might even be newer.... the SM465 lasted from 1972 to 1988 or so. then it was replaced with the Gertrag 5 speed for a few years... then New Venture gear, a joint venture between chrystler, and GM came out with the NV4500, and a 6 speed prototype then called the 4600, now called the 5600 or 6500.

good luck puting one in there,

Dodge started using the 4500 in '94. The 6 spd is the 5600; 5th is 1:1.

When did they start with the six speed? Funny we don't hear more about that. Do know what GM calls the 5 & 6spds? MM83?

Real trucks don't have spark plugs!

Dodge started the 6 spd somewhere around the end of '99. It was only put in a small # of trucks, due to reliability and prodution issues. When the HO cummins came out, (2000?), it was only available with the HO (as far as diesels, dunno about gas), and the HO was only available with the 6 spd.

I saw somebody advertising a conversion to the 6 spd from the 4500, was pricey, don't remember who (standard trans, maybe?).

I think the 93-94 GM versions had the first gear ratio of over 6:1, but have heard that these first couple of years had some noise and other small problems, so GM changed that in 95, and went with the same as Dodge on 1st gear ratio ( I think 5.6 or so to 1). Really nice trannies if you can make the driveline angles work for you...should be able to pull it off, though!

Hey, I ran accross this on the Pirate4x4 board.
