Yester day on my way from KC to Diz ok, i had a problem. when driving down the road with my blazer on trailer and sub pulling the trailer something F'ed up.

The trailer started to sway BAD and came off the hitch and passed me flipping 2 times.

The truck still runs and drive just no body left. The truck sayed on the trailer and landed up right in the center devider.

so what do i do? strip the truck? heep body, s10, truck cab, or cut up the rest and make a tube/tub body?

Hmm, did it start to sway and then come off the hitch, or did it come off the hitch and then start to sway? I've seen vehicles where the tow rig and trailer both rolled, but the hitch did NOT come apart. It was twisted all to hell, but didn't come apart. Your scenario sounds like the hitch coupler wasn't latched properly and the trailer jumped off the ball. When the trailer drops onto the safety chains it goes nucking futs. That could be when "The trailer started to sway BAD".

That sucks Brett! Glad to hear that no one was hurt. Too bad about the Blazer....I vote for a new body on your frame. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Sorry to hear about that man! Glad to hear you're alright though!

If the frame isn't bent, I would go with either a S10 body or tube type buggy creation of sorts. Hope everything works out for you in the end!

I told him to keep the tub on it and built a tube rad and fender support and cage the tub and go with no roof or windshield. But he is not aloud to tow his rig anymore (wife is upset) which is understadable. So it needs to be street driven. He found a rust free body for $800 possibley so we have allot of work ahead either way.

I've only had a trailer go crazy on me once, it popped off the hitch then swayed to hell. Luckily it was unloaded and had safety chains on.

[/ QUOTE ] I guess it all comes down to what you use your rig for. If strictly rocks, build a cage and forget about a body. If you like mud, think something like a S-10 Blazer body or even a El Camino body.

Damn Brett, that stinks. Glad to know that you and your's are o.k. I'm w/ the "make a truggy" crowd. Just pin some fenders to it like Watson's rig and go to town /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

well i just experienced this type of thing whith a 78 luv. Im taking my rolled truck and making a tube buggy thingy, thats what i would do in your case too.
