Can't you get a 10.5" ring gear semi floater though?

Nope 10.5 is all full floater. Also the front is a 10 bolt not a 44. The tcase is def a 203 though.

Ya I see it now the cover looked too round not like the faceted Dana cover but it is just an illusion .

the truck is a 1981 GMC 1/2 ton pickup

it has 8 lug axles... the guy i bought it off of didnt know much about the truck.

for the NP203 which way is 4wd 2wd neutral and 4lo?

IIRC alll the way forward is 4 low lok, then 4 low, neutral, 4 hi 4 hi lok. There isn't a 2wd on this case.

Yep that is correct .

For others do 81s have 44s in them? Just for my knowledge

You have most of the parts for a doubler. You would need to change the input on the 205 to a 32 spline (not sure what is entailed in that) but bolt that 205 to the gear box on the 203 and get some 4to1 action .

sanddawg - I have an 81 K5 with a 10 bolt up front and 12 bolt rear. Both stock...

hmm i think ill hold off on the doubler but im deff. gonna keep allll the parts

would this be a straight forward swap? like will everything line up and for the most part bolt up? the '81 has a 305 with a th350 i think
