hmm i think ill hold off on the doubler but im deff. gonna keep allll the parts

would this be a straight forward swap? like will everything line up and for the most part bolt up? the '81 has a 305 with a th350 i think

If the trannys are the same you just take the adapter and Tcase and swap them over. If you want to do the whole drivetrain (engine tranny tcase) then just pull from one and put it in the other. You will probably have to change the Tcase crossmember no matter which way you go.

what about the body lift good or bad for 4 wheelin?

with the 4" lift & shackle flip does the truck sit level?

Mine sits level. I personnally would not run more than a 1" body lift. I just dont like them. It really all depends on what kind of wheelin you do. If you do off camber stuff like rock then I would say remove it to keep your CG low. If you only do mud I dont think it will really hurt anything.

just wondering what your runnin for springs? and how they ride, im thinking about taking the body lift out, ive never liked them but id like to clear 35's with out trimming the fenders. im thinkin bout a 4" lift and ORD shackle flip

Front I dont know just that it is 4" the rear is a shackle flip with 56s from a 1 ton that I took 2 leaves out of to make them a little softer.

I just now saw that you do not want to trim. Some do not need to trim with 4" some need to trim alot. I have cut so much that I cannot run my inners anymore in the front:D . My springs are not like a cadillac but they are not near as stiff as some trucks I have ridden in.

I dont know because i have never really looked at the 44, but his spring mount is part of the center section. Isn't the d60 the only one that mounts like that? Also he did say he had 8 lugs, sure it isnt a 60?

:doah: no kidding? I should start paying attention to that. I've always had the 60 so I'm still a little green to the front axle world.

All 10 bolts, Dana 44s, 60 , and 70s are like that.

well the d60 only uses 3 ubolts and has studs in the perch, d44s/10b use 4 ubolts
