What Do You Consider To Be A Respectable Crawl Ratio?

Yep. Out here on the east side of the U.S., rock crawling is much more of a throttle fest than it is for you guys. We do crawl, but there are plenty of places on the trail where some throttle and/or momentum is required. Especially anywhere that the rocks are wet and muddy!

so according to this train of thought, my 175.2:1 is more than plenty, I always thought that I might have to add a doubler. /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif /forums/images/graemlins/weld.gif /forums/images/graemlins/weld.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif

hopefully my IROKs make short work of those muddy wet rocks.

Nothing makes short work of muddy, wet rocks. Dan/Krazie87K5 sat and spun all four of his 42" TSLs all over this one spot at badlands when we were there and they were at 5 psi.

Muddy, wet, sand and silt covered rocks = nearly zero traction to be had.

What are you running under your k5 to get that ratio?

[/ QUOTE ] if you mean my new ratios? I have a 465, 241 and 4.10s in the pumpkins right now. 6.55 x 2.72 x 4.10, then change the last number to 5.13 /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Please tell me I messed up;
I multiplied 5.13 x 1.96 x 2.48 and got 24.935904
Thats using 5.13 gears, np205 and th-400 /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

2.48 x 1.96 x 5.13 = 24.94

Yep, without a doubler, autos suck. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

6.55 x 1.96 x 4.10 = 52.64

My crawl ratio BEFORE I get the 5.13s. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Yep, the NP205 is REALLY high geared. Im at 20.25:1 with 38's and it SUCKS.

And a doubler would quadriple (4x) the original crawl ratio? Bring me to about 100 /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

No I am talking about in double low range. It would be 4:1, instead of 1:1, so isn't it going to be around 100? Or just 50 /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

holy moly! What are people running that have over 100 /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif
Even if I had a doubler, is there anything I can to increase that number WITHOUT swapping the axle gears, or the tranny/transfer case /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

You can use an ambiofascient lunar wayne shaft with hygroscopic marzel vanes, otherwise no.

ah, something is preventing me to beable to rock crawl, big engine in the planning, and tiny crawl ratio /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
