I use a roofer's safety harness and a 1-ton chain hoist. Kinda like Mission Impossible. Lost hold of the chain once..thank God I had my cell phone with me.

That sounds like fun. Gonna try that! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Kinda like bunji jumping? /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Couple of mil crates with a 2x12 laid across them. Let's me easily move back and forth across the front of the truck. I need to figure something out that's about 6 inches taller though. I would crawl in the engine bay but I'm too big to be in there when the hood is on.

get yer lazy ass up on the tire, into the bay and sit on the fender and core support

Gettin' too old for that. Besides, my feet are too big to fit comfortably in the bay... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

BAH! My 67 year old neighbor does it, and I have size 15 feet and they fit fine! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I have a step ladder, a small step stool, and a foot stool from a cheap recliner I used to have. Dependant in what I have to work on, one of these usually make due.

I made one of those things that slip over the tire, and I have a license plate holder you can filp down and stand on.Since I'm 6'4"tall,the only time I have to use them is when I have to change the sending unit,or fill the tranny or mes with the distributor--many times I end up climbing in and sitting on a 2x12 across the fenders. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

i wear a size 17 and can get mine in there. i usually sit on the radiator or driverside fender. for long jobs i put a small board between the radiato and the winch bumper for as bigger seat.

Well I don't feel so bad then..
I went from a 4" lift and 35"s to a 7.5" lift and 38's...
Well I went last night to look at where to mount my line lock by the MC and I will be dammed if I had a hard time just reaching the firewall from a milk crate....
As for climbing into the bay...Do it to ONLY reach that dam spark plug in the back(my fat a## can't stay in there that long..)...But the wheel wells are getting trimmed and then I can reach that sucker just FINE...LOL /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

A 5 gal bucket will kill ya /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I'm with the milk crate crowd. I also use a 6' ladder. If I want to get real up close and personal I just climb right in roll up my sleeves and start cussin /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Shaggy - Do you have a hammer and maybe some nails? SPend a half an hour making little jack standy legs for that 2x12 to proper height

I use a chair I stole from work, it's chair a riffic

I stand outside the truck or sit in the engine bay but thats not a real big problem with stock tires and no lift! /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif Soon to change I hope!
