what do you guys think of this efi kit?

There have been some reviews on the car forums on the FiTech. Seem to be favourable. The FiTech fuel management system also seems to get some good reviews. I haven't seen anything long term. Seems the earliest install on these was dated mid-year of 2015 or so?

Holley has something coming out in the same price range at the FiTech. The Fitech kit that supports 600hp runs for $999, as well as the upcoming Holley Sniper scheduled for May 2016:

Not sure which will be better, but I hope they both work well. Nice price for a carb to EFI conversion....affordable!

No matter what they claim, aftermarket systems come down to one thing... How is your engine built? Thats it.

Full Self Tuning is great for high idle vacuum mild engines.

Full self tuning sucks, I mean you will want a carb again sucks, for low idle vacuum angry engines.

Big cam overlap down low can not be self tuned. Full wide open short exhaust down low can not be self tuned.... See the theme. All has to do with exhaust reversion, cam overlap, unburned fuel.... All show lean no matter the actual AFR. Ever see a rig run sooooo rich the O2 shows its lean?

I'm not hating on any kits, I am simply expressing what I have run into and what other guys have run into. Everything is awesome on the flyer! When it comes to real world, not so much. To me its like guys that claim they are tuners and they stick a wide band in the tailpipe....... Ain't gonna work.

I have customer that did the fast efi kit. He has a pretty angry 383, and it was a pain to get it to settle down enough to be decent, it works ok, he still has his problems and quirks.

I tried and tried to convince him to go Ls, but he likes the cast iron sbc boat anchors to much.

So how about those of us that have a fairly mild 350 and just want to replace the carb because it sucks for offroading? Also I have no idea whats in my engine cause I bought it already in the truck but I can tell from the idle and the power thats its gotta be under 400hp and pulls decent vacuum? Just looking for other options before I drop the money on a LS swap haha!

I have a neighbor who had a bone stoke tbi engine in his truck. His son borrowed it for a year or so. Started having running issues. Turned out the son did a cam swap.:doah: No reflash on the prom. So after the kid had screwed up a bunch of other stuff, dad was going to slap a carb on it. Was looking at $600 plus paying me to do the swap.

I pointed him to that EFI. So easy and with the cammed engine, it brought it to life. Still working today. He is happy with it and all of the TBI crap is gone.

that kit says good up to 400 hp, they have 600 hp , 800 hp and a 1200 hp kit

Yeah I just meant is the FI setup going to run okay on a mild 350 vs a built 350 where you will still have to try and tune it right? I like the price range and the fact its self tuning.

Anyone interested in self tuning I would highly suggest you look at what it takes to dial in the "self tuning". There is a lot more than put it on and drive.

Thats funny. I always considered a "self tunner" one that can be tuned by oneself. Not slap it on and it tunes itself. No auch thing as plug and play.

Bump! Summit has the 600 hp kit for $995 with $100 rebate and free shipping. $900 at bad at all!

Any more input? Anybody actually using it or know someone using it?

Holley is releasing a very similar kit (Sniper)for about the same price come June this year. Might be worth waiting to see if either one has any advantage to it.

Mr. Team208, I think you mentioned when you tune, you strive to get 97% efficiency on FI delivery systems?
Any comment on what kind of efficiency that these self tuning units run into if just bolted on?

That really depends on the system. I strive for my numbers based on knowing what I can do. If it's self learning what can you do......... Yes, they store data and generate a fuel table over time. That still leaves enrichment tuning, start up, idle ..... which even on self tuning is not self tuning.

Holley is usually pretty good as their self tuning comes with the HP series ECM. That ECM can be fully tuned. I don't know about the new sniper stuff.

If it were me I would just make sure any of the systems can be ,optionally, manually tuned. Not with a handheld but by means of full ECM control. That way if the wiz bang self learn has a learning disability, you can give it the help it needs.

I've been researching fitech quite a bit. I like their message, which is fi doesn't need to be as expensive as a holly system...who tried to buy them out I believe.

I could see the self learning deal not bein as optimal as other systems but for what we're doing I think it's perfect.

There's a high likely hood I will pull the trigger on one of these setups. I'm still researching but I'm liking what I'm seeing so far.

Good piece of advice. I'll make sure to check for this option before committing to something.
