so, I'm thinking of putting a 3 g bid in on this rig, maybe 3500.... i have a suspicion the reserve is probably 4.... considering the work it needs, 4 would probably be the max I'd be willing to spend...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/?cmd...49&item=280813193722&sspagename=STRK:MEWAX:IT

got a few issues... the 2 main ones being the cracked timing cover and a potentially iffy auto....

I would probably do the timing cover (not sure if it's the inner or outer... if I'm guessing right, the outer is simple, the inner sucks...)

and I would probably limp the auto around and gather parts for a NV4500 swap...

the body is not a concern, it's well within "easy" work for me... little concerned that it was a plow rig up in the northeast, but it doesn't look too bad..

all the rig's i keep finding seem to be NY, Conn, etc... I've been watching these rigs for about 5 months now nationwide, and tho I've seen some clean offerings, they are generally very far away....

if it was the 5 spd, I wouldn't be posting this, I'd probably be driving it home... anyway, any opinions? think it's worth 4?

No way. Too much money.

I'm betting it chucked the dowel pin, cracked the gear case. And the cover story is that they "removed" the pin. Paint is hatched, auto "doesn't shift right", body rot. It's a beater, That truck is not worth 4k.

I would look at the nice ones, beat the price down the cost of a flight and some fuel. And go get one. Like the one guy on here, has that 95 flatdeck one for sale 5spd. Badger it down the cost of going to get it.

My thoughts exactly, that thing is beat, too much money.

never buy a truck to drive if its had a plow on it :deal:

solid rust on the under side / beat on driving from plowing / way to many problems.

and if you wana get in to plowing buy a truck and then put a plow on it.

I have no interest in plowing.... it just seems EVERYTHING i see listed for sec gen Dodge Cummins is AT LEAST 5 or 6 grand.. with real clean ones pushing 10 g most of the time...

As mentioned before, this thing looks pretty beat up. If the rockers are that bad, I can't imagine what the frame might look like. If it were me, I'd probably pass.

Id take the white one! The red one has been worked to death and im suspicious of it any way.

the main reason I was interested in the red one was the extended cab dually 3500 aspect of it... that's really what I want, but they have been few and far between in my price range.. more than likely I'll end up with a SRW such as the white one...

I'd eventually want to paint that tho.... definitely not a fan of white vehicles... but it sounds reasonable...

Heres a 3500 dually '99 Ext cab 4x4 5spd. 9' flatdeck. $4000 OBO canadian. its for sale here in Calgary local to me. I can get in touch with the guy. I'm on nights. It;s late now. Bed time, Nighty Nite!

Ha, turns out I know the guy selling the white dually I posted. By a plane ticket drive it home. Sheesh I might even buy it, he's pretty flexible for offers too I think. It's got 6 new tires on it too.

Been there, done that.

I had no interest in an auto and finding any manual under 5K was next to impossible.

It seems I was beaten by hours each time I thought I found a deal, I literally spent almost two years looking for a Cummins truck before I bought a K30/Cummins project truck. Cash in hand the whole time, any time anything cheap-ish came around it was literally sold within a few hours.

You have to get real lucky to find someone that is asking less than $5K for a running Cummins Dodge.

I've seen some real sweet ones....... in the 10 to 20 g range... :eek1: and I've seen some that where decent, in the 7 to 8 range...

I've still got a couple months before I HAVE to get something... I've got about 4 g's right now, but the most I'll have come april 1 would be about 7 g's....

I saw that one in maryland Josh, looked potential till I saw it needed rebuild... this needs to go right into service as a DD... and thanks Luke, but I have no interest in flying somewhere and driving home.. I'll pay a grand to have it shipped first...

Thanks for the input boys, I'm just gonna have to keep shopping and hope something comes up...

I'll keep an eye out for you, I travel all over MD, VA, DC, and southern PA for work so I get around a little :D. There is a really clean 2wd ECLB 12v for sale locally , but , it's and auto 2wd so. :doah:
They do sell quick, I was amazed at how quickly I sold my 00 with 335k on it, and how much I got for it !
