What do you love\hate about your 73-75 or 88-91?

:eek1: MMmm Boner alert!! lol
Beautiful man

I am a fan of the 1991 simply because it was the last year with the removable top (obviously). However, to me that means that it has the latest and greatest design and features of the K5 Blazers.

Newer is betta as well. Less rust and oldness lol

There are a couple wiring differences in the 73. Not a big deal just a difference in the connectors so it takes some work when replacing stuff.

The 73 seats IMHO are the most comfortable, I loved em. Loved the full vert for summertime cruising. I really like the grilles from the 73 too.

I like the power everything on my 89, I like the 700/241.

There are some differences in the floor between the 73-75 vs all the others.

I didn't like the old style glass fuses in the 73.

I liked having the old school door panels and dash in my 73, but I also like my newer ones in my 89.

I had collected everything to make my 89 look like a 73, then the 89s front clip would go to the 86 dually. But I have decided to just go full vert on the 89 and the 73 front clip is going on my dually.

Really boils down to I like the 89 alot better, only reason I would buy another 73-75 is for the full vert.

I also like fuel injection although my 89 Jimmy is a diesel

When it comes time to replace the engine in my 1974, I will consider fuel injection...although it goes against my desire to keep it original...but if gas goes to $5 a gallon :dunno:

I wish we would drill like Hell and drop the cost of gas back to .35 cents a gallon like it is in the Arab nations.

My biggest issue is the spare inside. It's jumps all over the place when you hit bumps, and it'll make you cringe. I wish it was underneath or on a swing out. But I have a thing w keeping my truck 100% stock looking, so fabbing up a swing out just isn't in the cards.

Nice truck! Was the swing out spare carrier a factory option? Rare?

Dont quote me but i dont beleive it was with these because of the tail gate....

I have a 91 love the looks and it's easy to work on, hate the never ending battle with rust!

True that, but thats the same with anything 20+ years old exposed to well, salt, rain, sand, the elements in general lol.

My truck originally had a rear mounted swing out tire carrier. Removed long before it became mine. Now I just have holes in the body where it bolted to and some useless metal parts on the tailgate.

What I love:
Easy to work on
Simplicity
Tough and parts readily available
Look great

What I Hate:
Crappy road noise due to poor door design
Wing windows that whistle
Inaccurate factory gauges
Rust

Mine isnt a blazer but an 86' short box but i absolutely love it. Not as refined or quiet or as comfortable as my newer vehicles but way tough and easy to maintain.

Yes you close those heavy steel doors and hop in and it just feels like its right outa detroit, not like its a piece of 1 lb plastic that feels like if you got hit it would crinkle like paper. Thats why i love them, they just feel heavy, well cuz its true.

It is definitely a personal preference thing. The 89 K5 Diesel would get my vote. It's decent on gas, has the nice front clip, pre-ABS, OD tranny, and the 30 spline 10 bolt. They are a little scarce to find though. I ended up with a M1009. The 33" tires and TH400 make good RPMs at highway speeds and I put it in 4 low to plow with. Good luck with the search.

I love the additional 60 HP of the TBI system but I hate chasing codes and sensors.

I love having a solid front axle but I hate that it's only a 10-bolt as big as my truck is.

I love having a longbed for hauling stuff but I hate my turning radius.

I love having a bench seat but I hate not having cup holders.

I love that I can sit up underneath my truck but I hate that I can't reach anything in the engine bay.

This one was the best!

73-75 blazer

the thing that i don,t like about my 75 blazer is that the door glass won,t go up al the way when the doors are closed( i gonna convert them to ful doors and rebuild/shape the fiberglass hardtop, also rust is a big problem here in The Netherlands, also the backwindow mechanism is not the best the,ve build. that i gonne chance it too an upper tilting glass mechanism with hinges on the roof and use the system in the door too lock the glass on the inside.

Totally agree! Especially the part about sitting up underneath, but not being able to reach anything in the engine bay!

 lol thank you. I've had almost 10 years to form my opinions about my truck. It's sort of a time capsule back to when I was a carefree young man and gas was cheap. I'd never buy something like that now but as it's the only thing I own that's driveable right now, I'm damn sure going to enjoy it!

I was telling my kids that I remember when gas was right around $1/gal when I was in High School and I could fillup my '64 Falcon for less than $15 and it would last me 2 weeks!!
