What do you think this is worth?

Congrats... I hope you get something worked out. If I was out there, I'd give you a hand with it...

Well.... talked to AAA and they said with their premier package there's a 200 mile cap on the towing, and you have to wait 24hrs to then use another one of your 4 allowed tows. with the premier they allow one 200 mile, and three 100 mile trips. The probation period is only 48 hours so that's not bad. I might just do it and get a hotel, because it's only $100 for the membership. It's about 320 miles from Sac to where I'm at.

another option by a tow bar for a jeep around 180 or so and rent a truck or borrow one to tow it with. Tow bar will also came in handy for future thats how i tow my sub around. And you are not paying reg and storing a trailer when not in use.

you might talk to avery4jc. he is in the sacramento area, i think, and he seems like a pretty helpful dude. he's got a one ton truck and i think access to a trailer because i think he trailers his pick up to the dunes and back....

I was thinking about doing that but it needs to be registered to flat tow... once I get it tagged i'll probably build a tow bar for it.

Colby- Thanks, i'll shoot him a PM

Since you just got it. Do you have access to a 3/4 ton truck? If so, go to United Rentals in Chico and rent a car trailer for a day. Should cost under $80 for a 24hour period and do the towing/pick up yourself. Just be sure to ask them for a cartrailer that is at least 84" X 16' wide. I work for United and it is what I use to tow my First Gen to the trails.

LOL... I'm coming to chico this weekend to haul my k5 back to redding.

Call uhaul. they have a car trailer with a max capacity of 5000 lbs for $50 a day. Might have to lie a little on the weight but they aren't gonna put it on scales. Not sure on the dimensions though.:what::dunno::doah:

when I moved from portland, the largest car hauler i could get from uhaul had a capacity of 3800 lbs or so. when i ordered the gear i needed, the guy promised me i could haul my full size blazer with it. i told him it was oversized, he said sure enough it would be able to be hauled on their equipment. i was sorely dissapointed the day before i needed to move 300 miles across the state. i called the uhaul service number and they told me that they dont offer a trailer big enough for a full size truck. i certainly couldn't find one on their website either...

The guy on the phone told me 5000 lbs. Their website say 4000lbs.

I'll be sure and get the measurements from them now. Got me a little worried.

i know that when i attempted to put my blazer on it inspite of knowing it shouldn't be done, the track width of my blazer was FAR too wide for the car hauler.

I think you're in for some trouble. Listed on the Blazer brochure at the following link, the width of the vehicle is 79.6" from widest sheet metal to widest sheet metal.

http://www.coloradok5.com/brochures/1983/blazer4.jpg

The maximum width from outside-of-tire to outside-of-tire for the uhaul auto transport is 79.25", so you're looking at being SUPER close to the width limit (assuming stock tires and wheel offset) and WAY over the limits of this trailer in weight. You'll likely be exceeding the weight limit by 1000 to 1500 pounds - that's 25 to 38 percent over capacity, and likely WAY beyond any factor of safety they would have built into the trailer.

Additionally, even if you were going to risk it, you'd very likely need the later model trailer. From their website:

Note: outside tire width over 75" must use late-model
  • U-Haul Auto Transport (identifiable by silver galvanized color).

Putting a Blazer on this trailer would be a very poor decision.

Me again. I just checked the Chico branch and they have a Millerbilt trailer that would suit your needs to haul the blazer. PM me and I can probably get you a bit better deal and reserve the trailer for you if this is the way you want to go.

This is in chico.... PM Hoby about it

Fellas, rather than trying to find the most ghetto and unsafe way of transporting a fullsize just give me a PM and let me see if one of my other branches can make your life easier.
