What does a CV rear driveshaft cost?

I just stopped to look at how old this post is. Damn, why are we bringing up a 2 year old post anyways. :haha:

Ha! Good point!

Chrisblazzer89! Why did you ressurect this POS?? :doah:

I paid about $480 for a 1350CV/1350 shaft from HAD. thick wall, long slip yoke options. Also include a flange for my tcase. delivered. was during a 10% off sale.

WHAT a fixed yoke 208???

A "fixed yoke" is bolted directly to the transfer or axle, has a nut in the middle, a "slip yoke" is on the end of a splined tube that slides in and out of the back of the transsmission or transfer as the rear axle goes up & down with the suspesnion. Hope this helps

My K5 came with the TH400 and NP205, its an old Army Cucv, I was looking thru the old posts to see what I could find refering to CV joints. I'm going to see if I can drop the transfer a bit more. My lift (Rough Country) has the shims on the rear axle to tilt the diff up. Another $400 for a driveshaft is a bit hard to get past my finacial manager! That would make it about $900 for a 4 inch lift, and still havent got to the tires & rims.

You are right, it Is a NP208. anyway, its a slip yoke and after the lift, and lowering the transfer,3/4 inch and as stated before the lift has the wedge shim to aim the diff. up, I still have a vibration. Other than going to larger U joints, why cant I just get another U joint and the center of a CV joint and go like that. I dont understand why a new driveshaft or new yoke has to be welded on. The stock setup has survived years of Military abuse, Use as a fire/rescue vehicle, and now its mine to abuse. I off road at BVORR and plan to take it to Katemcy, Tx. (see Get Bent episode 1) but it sees mostly pavement as a DD. at best the 6.2 diesel put out little HP but lots of torque.
it cuises fine @ 65 -70 mph. Yes I would like to go with 1 ton axles and big beefy driveshafts, but that sort of thing is beyond my budget. And right now is not required for my expectations.

as for resurecting an old post, isnt that what the forum is for, to find information? I also am building a 65 Willys Jeep, so old information is still valid.
