What gears for 38's?

Re: What gears for 38\'s?

Would 5.13's work for a daily driver? I have a 350 right now, but I'll be investing in a fo-fitty-fo once I have the funds /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif Thanks

its not a matter of what engine you have, its what axles you have. your engine should be happy anywhere between 1500-3500 cruise rpm no matter what it is. the added torque multiplication of the 5.13s could cause you some problems if your axles arent up to par. plus the tires required to make 5.13s streetable are going to be large and heavy, so more stress on the axles.

I have D60 and C14bff rear, with 38 tslr's eventually, will that be okay?

[/ QUOTE ]1 tons, 38's, 5.13's, and a 454 should work just fine. It will be a gas sucking animal though. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

Re: What gears for 38\'s?

Ive got 4.10's with 38's and a TH350 tranny because Im planning on a Doubler some day. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Re: What gears for 38\'s?

454, 38's and it won't matter which gears you run...it'll suck fuel.

If you want fuel mileage go with a diesel, or buy stock in Shell, Chevron, etc etc and keep the 454.

Like Rene said, it's going to suck fuel no matter what. It's a big block with huge heavy tires bolted to it.

[/ QUOTE ] Holy crap! There is 3.78 litres in a gallon so that would be $2.65 a gallon! /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif
It's about $2.30 for premium here in Cali and thats a rip off... /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Re: What gears for 38\'s?

Works out to 1.96 per gallon when it's at 70 cents/litre. Diesel runs me 63 cents (cdn)a litre...($1.76/Gallon)

Gas fluctuates very quickly here for whatever reason they think we'll belive. Lately the prices go from 72/litre to 85/litre overnight...then drop back down to 72/litre over 5 or 6 days and then repeat. Oddly enough the big rise in prices always seems to coincide with the 15th or 1rst of the month, then also the alternating weekend to that. Paydays for 90% of people. No conspiracy to price gouge or anything... /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

At least diesel prices are steady...

Re: What gears for 38\'s?

I was out in calabasas ( CA ) the other day it was 2.79 for 91 can u belive this Sh!t. anyway my vote is 4.88, I have 4.88s with 35s and its just to much gear for DD use ( so cal freways move FAST ) so im gonna go to 38 inch tires ( more fun than regearing ).
