One more thing.. as far as driveability and offroading it seems most are going with somethin around 456. What about for acceleration and faster 1/4 mile what would I go with?? I know sometimes if you gear the truck too low it will have alot of power but you dont get into a good powerband for acceleration and it actually could make you slower. I good example is running in 4 low, you take off fast with power but as you get going the taller gear of high would have won the race once it got into powerband around 35-40 mph
What would I get if I wanted it to be fastest in a 1/4 mile situation? I know if you go too low it will be out of powerband and just be shifting too much to be fast.
I have experienced in cars sometimes when u have a upgraded engine like I have with my 350 (cams, 3 inch exhasut exc.) you want to go with taller gears or stock rather then shorter gears where your shifting alot and not getting much besides torq and a quick 0-35 mph jump
I know it would have to do with the powerband of the motor and racing engines that only make power at high rpm would want low gears and stock engines that make max power around 4 grand would want tallers gears
