Forums like these are a great resource for all types of topics, and I certainly believe in supporting them. But the fact of the matter is I really don’t use this one very much (blazer related), If I used it more, I would spring for a membership. I can justify the cost for something I rarely use.
When you log on to this page, the first half of the page is all advertizing directed at its users. That advertising is how the website should be generating revenues / income, but instead they have choose to remove basic features and try to stong arm its users into buying a membership. After all the info being search here has all been compiled by its users, for its users. At any given time, you can see that most of the active users on this site are "guest", not members. Could you imagine if Google, or yahoo, charged $25 to search their websites? They would'nt be as successful as they are today if they did.

Pirate tried to limit the search for a while and found the new membership rate dropped. People use the resource and find they like it. Then they will purchase a membership.
The other problem is noobies will post the same question many times and that ends up using more resources than the search.

I understand you point of not wanting to may for membership for one search. that is your right. for some people who dont use this alot,membership may not be worth it for them. for me, and many others like me, who do choose to use the forum as much as we do, it is worth the money to have more access. to each his own. I know that for be, I view it as more of a donation so that we can keep this forum going. I know that Steve started that site for the love of the K5, and it is worth it to me to donate to keep it going.

I don't think the smartass comments trying to drive a person away are called for. Not exactly the type of thing I would expect to see here on CK5.

If you did spend a little time here you would soon realize that the benefits of being a member here far and away pay for themselves many times over. you have no idea the resource that most if not all of us can be.
I've been a mechanic, probably longer than you've been out of diapers, and you ain't gonna find a bit of the info I know, in any amount of search function, except out right asking me for it,

It's all good.
The "membership" idea was just that, No strong arming here. If one wants full membership rights and privileges, one needs to ante up, thats all.

Pirate is another place with tons of great info, mostly hard core wheelers over there. But, if you ask a stupid question over there, you lose 6 pounds of ass flesh in the process. We pride our selves on not being them. but, we don't like getting bagged on either...

true that, i've been a member here for quite some time and ive made that $25 back more then once getting info from the more experienced guys around here so i can work on my ride. plus i try to give where i can. its worth it to me.
