What happened to Ground Hawgs??

I just tend to always look for ways to support primarily American companies and remember them as my first 4X4 tire experience.

which company's are american made?

This write up starts with some ownership facts to help with who is NOT a US company any longer. Still most still have primarily us families supported by them. But imagine a company doing this and being fully supportive of America at the same time.

Takes a few minutes of research and a consciences consumer.

All American and not a bad tire. Not the best but unfortunately a lot of capital is saved when companies use foreign countries lack of human rights to save a buck.

My point of view is hire American and do what I can to support America. Since when is it cool to support communism??

Denman is primarily a tractor tire company but still an American company.

I am glad to get a complete current list if you want but I was only looking for an off-road tire and liked the retro look of the Hawgs and knew they were primarily a American company.

As far as I know Mickey Thompson is American as is Interco tire.

Don’t get me wrong I know that this article spells the truth about the market movement but still there are still companies on the list primarily American and spending there profit in America.

Just incase you don’t read the article because it is boring and long you have to read this its funny.

"Flying into China once I was sitting next to the vice president of quality control for a major U.S. furniture manufacturer. We were talking about doing business with Chinese factories.
"He told me that they had ordered a very high-end dining room set to be manufactured for a customer; we're talking $15,000 to $20,000 for the set. It was supposed to be all mahogany.
"He said, 'We got the thing in and opened up the sideboard, and it was gorgeous. We opened up the china hutch and it was gorgeous. The chairs were done exactly the way we wanted them. But when we got to the table it had mahogany legs and an oak top!'
"We said they called the factory and said, 'We just got the dining room set that we ordered but you guys made the top out of oak, not mahogany.' And the plant said, 'We ran out of mahogany that day.' The Chinese were very proud that they improvised!"

So you support that??? And communism when you buy china.. wow

To make it easy ask when you buy a tire. Tell them you want a American made tire. Tell them if they are wrong you’re bringing them back. Be prepared to spend more. It is scary how few options you will have.

I was really pissed at BFG so last week i spent $30 more per tire and put goodyear MT/R's on my truck. I wonder if the $30 was because they were made with real labor and not overseas. I feel better about my purchase. wish i could say it was because i was an american, but i didn't know at the time.

to make a long story short, BFG put factory defective tires on my rig and then would only give me credit for the tread depth left. I thought that was pretty chessy of them, so I said if they wont replace them i would never buy their tires again.

Yeah him outwheeling somebody is his driving though. he has a very low opinion of those tires. I asked him why he ran them, and he said because they were free:haha: No personal experience with them, but watching similarly equipped rigs with hawgs versus TSL's the swampers seem to work better in most conditions.

I always thought hawgs looked cool. A friend of mind had 38s on his bronco and I remember him climb up on a log and they ran over it like a claw, it was kinda of cool to watch. I've never run themselve to know.

i may have miss read but interco tires are not all made in the USA. i read an artical about the LTB being made in mexico and the irok made somewhere else over seas.

true that, he had bald sx's for a loooong time and still did good in them. my conclusion: tires dont make a difference :haha:

True almost all tire companies are now outsourcing to some degree. The most you can do is support American based companies and buy as much American made as you can.

Well that’s what I try to do. Its not just tire’s it everything I buy. The point is to provide as much support for my surroundings and local companies as I can. Local purchasing provides Americans with more take of every dollar I spend. That’s basically the point of my original comment regarding trying to buy American…

The main point of the thread is still the Ground Hawgs. I actually don’t like them better than swampers based on mud merit but I like them more because they were part of some of my first wheeling and were around long before the swamper was. I figure they have better road characteristics and are a great medium between swampers and tsl radials.

Much cooler than bfg or other “all terrain” or “radials”

i have heard of horror stories about the 38's and below..

love my bias 40's.... 38.8 on a 16.5x12 rim (needed to do that to pass inspection)

good action pics of the Ghawgs :D i go wheeling with TONEYD19 he has 38 hawgs on his blazer and we go through some pretty nasty sh*t were everyone else is in 4wheel he just stays in 2 wheel i think there good tires never had any myself but i likem. :D

I run 44's and I like them have lots of mile on them and they are still half tread. I don't think I would rock crawl with them.

In talking to the guys at Nebraska Tire, they informed me that all the Mickey Thompson and Pro Comp tires are manufactured by Cooper.Just some trivial
information.:wink1:

i could be wrong, but this is what i understood talking to Interco...

Denman is the manufactur of Interco...And Denman also makes Ground Hawgs. Interco has the Ground Hawg on the site to sell since they are made by the same company...Not by Interco..

Like i said i could be wrong, but this was my understanding.

I'm not too particular on where they are made but I'm going to run a set of hawgs. I like the look and RootBreaker has convinced me to give em a shot. I'm looking at a set of 40's right now

What horror stories did you hear? I am thinking of going 38's. what possible problems should i look for?

Thanks
