I'm tired off getting stuck when I plow off raod im My Blazer. I read as good article on different POSI's in a recent magazine. I'll post it here soon...

So I understood that some posi's only engage when a wheel spins at diff speeds, and engages slowly. Maybe it was the "cone" style.

So can I use this for a street truck? I've got a DANA 60 from an '86 K3500 SRW Pick Up I could use to convert the K5 to 3/4 ton.... Is the Pumpkin the same as a Dana 60 for the back diffy? Or is the front Dana 60 unique?

And What about a Posi for a 14 Bolt rear diffy, (from the same Pick Up). Is the width the same, Just the spring perche angle different?

looks like you need to learn were to turn around when plowing in the snow.

i would only go posi rear not all front . i have read a lot with the info being not good for street or plowing . to much to turn. thay say more than likly crossover and hydro assist to help turn. but no lift and plow you wont be doing crossover.

do you run ballest? and if so how much?

you should be around 700-800 lbs for that plow setup.

You're right about balast. I have a Ford 8 lub wheel as balast! I'll have to add some leafs and then a concrete curb-stop, bolted down.m
Steering isn't the prob, just sometimes the snow is too deep, but the posi out back would help, but I'd lose my stability on a hill, oh well... Chains, but noisy...

A trutrack up front performs very well on the street and is more stable than a tight posi or locker.

a d60 is a 1-ton axle. a 14 bolt from a 1-ton, has different spring perch widths then any 1/2 or 3/4 ton.

as for your other questions, if they are not the same diff, then nothing matches, thay are all unique to themselves.

Diff Spring perch widthes? I woulda' thunk the frames would be the same. Do you mean the SPRINGS are wider, but the perches are welded in the same place? Wouldn't the springs be attached to the frame in the same place? Isn't the frame the same, but maybe thicker. 4x4HIGH??? U there?

I'm here and these guys have it correct. The D60 front will bolt directly into your blazer and a limited slip should work fine, just not a locker. The 14ff will bolt directly into your blazer as long as it's from a 3/4 ton since the spring spacing on a 1 ton is different (3/4 ton = 42.5" center to center on spring perches, 1 ton = 40.5" center to center on spring perches).

so the 4.10 carrier from a rear d60hd won't replace the carrier in my front d60?

Yes, it will. The only problem is spline count. Most rear 60's are not 35 spline. My Powerlok is out of a rear 60 and I just changed the side gears.
