What is a 1972 K5 Blazer worth? (pics added)

4k? guy's nuts....

I'd bet the farm that rot is FAR worse than you think it is...

1000.00 is probably to much...but I would buy it for that.

4000.00 I`d tell the guy to F#ck off.

It might be worth a $1000, but it will need a ton of metal work. I don`t think you are nuts, but you should be realistic about your skill level and goals. That rot will be worse than you think once you get into it.

Agreed.

Even if you can get it cheap, it still may not be worth it. That truck has a LOT of rust showing....and I guarantee when you pull up those rubber mats the front floors are going to be a mess too..... And the front cab supports, and probably the torsion boxes. You'll spend literally THOUSANDS of dollars getting the rust sorted out before you even have to think about paying for the paint job.

Don't get emotional about "saving" a rotted example. That sort of tough love sounds like a romantic notion (bringing a truck all the way back from ruin) but the reality is that it's a lousy example to start with and it will bleed you financially and the finished product will never be as nice as if you started with a solid, dry "desert" truck instead.

Heed the advice you are soliciting here.... Plenty of guys have made the mistake of buying a basket case because they fell in love with it and didn't want to take the time to shop for a true solid truck.

Don't forget ditching the 307 for an engine that will actually make the truck move. If that 307 has any miles on it I'm guessing the cam lobes are worn down and the valves are wicked noisy. You'll be in over 3k in that department.

Unless you have unlimited finances you will feel bad whatever you might pay. Personally I avoid project vehicles I cannot drive while I fix it up. If it's not on the road, it's not for me. I really enjoy driving my blazer. It was $1500 and drives reliably wherever I want. With a 2k budget I wouldn't touch that truck.

Paid $1200 for mine with good tires, more rust and dents and a 350cid

1k to 1.5k is tops if everything else is good and useable. Start detracting from there
