Ok if you really want to know my opinion. I'll stick to my guns...

In my mind, I don't think those are REAL trucks.

#1 I don't like Dodges. But if you add a winch, it's the closest REAL Dodge truck one could find, IMO.

#2 I think it is lifted too high. Is that your Blazer? More of a passenger wheeler vehicle right? IMO.

#3 What tire size, lift and does it have a winch? It looks very close to be a REAL truck, IMO.

#4 That's a straight out Badazz crawler! I wouldn't call it a REAL truck though, IMO.

#5 I love the old Fords. Put a winch on that Ford and ya got a REAL Ford truck, IMO.

I think most trucks that are stock with the exception of a winch is more of a REAL truck then one that is heavily modified.

I ask myself, why do old men usually drive a stock height truck? And it comes to me after learning my lesson from putting a 6" lift on my truck(which IMO is not a REAL truck) and then trying to haul hay, or a car, or simply get in the tool box in the back of the bed. Such a pain in the butt! I think trucks are to make life easier, not harder. But every truck has it's own purpose. And if that purpose makes the job easier, then I would say its a REAL truck for that perticular person. To each his own.

I agree with a lot of your reasoning except the winch part; I remember how hard it was to lift my welder into my 95 Dodge 4x4 3/4 ton on 33s and no lift.

Now, with a truck without a winch be OK if it locking differentials?

I hear ya! Before I put a lift on my truck, I cut the fenders for it to clear 33" tires. It sure was more of a pain in the butt to do work that it was designed to to factory. That's why I have to make strict rules for myself and not make my mistakes again. I dont want to cut fenders anymore. Maybe a 2" lift will clear 33" tires? Just depends on the offset of rim I guess :dunno:

Well... IMO I think a winch is good. Having lockers is darn good too!:thumb:

Coils and links will clear 33s :flipoff7:

:haha::thumb: I need a rig first!

Yes.... You do.

I would suggest that you get that part completed BEFORE starting a thread in "The Driveway" forum. That sub-forum has a very specific purpose and mission.

Newer dodges have straight axles while Chevys don't, are they more of a real truck than Chevys?

I like the GMC and Chevys pre 88. I've owned a 94 Gmc once and I thought it was junk. Owned a 94 Toyota PU, I thought that was junk too. Dodge Durango, junk. 90's Fords, junk.

Just don't make em like they use to... IMO

i like my non truck truck, just dont like the rims and i took the steps off. it has a 4" lift and tows our 10k excavator with no problems  its a stright axle, and it has a floor shifter for 4wd, not some wussy push button
