When I think of a REAL truck... I think...

What a REAL truck is not...

1. Lifted more then 4".

2. Lowered more then stock.

3. Gutless. Lacking Horse's and torque

4. Has a shell.

5. 2WD

6. Can't tow

7. Pretty

8. Gearless

9. A daily driver

10. Can not get stuck.

11. Does not have some type of bed.

12. Newer Fords

13. Newer Dodge's

14. Any Toyota

I'm trying to think of how I want to build the Ultimate truck. What's your take?

Oh I forgot to add # 15!

A real truck Does have a bench seat:)

So that's a list of what a real truck is or is not? I'm confused.

Well it started as is Not and number 15 brings it to Does so were on the right path here.

So according to this I've got cars. My Dodge is a Dodge that looks pretty, and my GMC is lifted and cant tow and both are daily drivers.

I'd say a real truck doesnt have IFS.

Do Burbs count in this? If so, mine is not a real truck. I have between 5.5-6" lift. Oh well, no biggie. I totally get what your saying though.:waytogo:

For sure.

And I (and most anyone) can get anything stuck :deal:

And does the truck being a daily driver make it more or less of a "truck"? :dunno:

According to Arizona motor vehicle division, Suburbans are station wagons.

and the word you were looking for in the original post, is THAN

Why the need to pigeon hole something? I have a pick-up that is as real as it gets, yet it's pretty, 2WD, doesn't tow a house etc etc.

I have another rig lifted a bit over 4", doesn't tow much, isn't geared great etc etc.

Both are near enough to gutless. I consider them both real trucks, worthwhile owning to me, and each beautiful in their own ways.

Build and enjoy what you want. Save the rationalizing and discriminating for something else.

There is no ultimate truck, or 4x4, or buggy, or low-rider or whatever. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder (or builder)...

:doah: Isn't a Burb like a reeeeealy big SUV? :dunno:

Guess my trucks are not real trucks

I knew my opinion might hit a few nerves... When I got my 6" lift, the whole time I had it, I regret getting it. It was such a pita to get in and out and load and unload the stuff hauled in the bed. The bigger tires took away power that could have been used more for towing.

I do want to add that the truck performed much better on and off road with 33" tires and stock suspension, vs the 6" lift. I think there's a fine line. A truck is a truck, but when one modifies it past that fine line, it's no longer a truck. IMO.

It like taking a tubbed truggy to a Tough Truck Challenge.

If it starts, and has a bed, its a truck. :haha:

That. I guess it depends on how strict you want to be, but, in general, it usually just needs a bed, with a few exceptions(El Camino, Ranchero, that weird Subaru thing). I also call my K5 a truck out of habit because it's easier than calling it a station wagon.

Edit: Upon reflection, I would also include the VW Golf Pickup in the list of non-truck vehicles, despite the name.

hmm,my first car out of high school was a 1981 vw pickup, kinda wish i still had that
