I am sure this is a stupid question; but this is my 1st truck I am rebuilding, and I am hearing a lot about shackle flips.

Thanks, Jeff

Without any pictures, it's more difficult to explain, but if you look at the rear suspension of your truck, the leaf spring is connected to a small hinged bracket near the back of the truck) In a stock truck, the leaf spring holds this bracket under tension. A shackle flip rotates the bracket ~180 degrees around so it's under compression. The reason for doing this is to give you a nice amount of lift (~4") without having to get new springs which would make the ride rougher, or add any blocks. If you look at the truck, it's pretty easy to see what I mean. Also, take a look at the tech articles section on here, it explains the installation.

I got one from ORD (Off Road Design) and it worked great.

As stated above plus on a personal note, I've just done mine and my rear suspension is now much more flexible and reacts faster than before. I have the stock original springs still but you more movement, more easily...if that makes sense?

Got a picture for ya

This is when I did mine...
