Its a stock 305 if that matters. I think its something to do with egr stuff. I am putting on a new carb and intake. So is it ok to lose that thing and all the extra junk that is under the hood? as always thanks

I think thats and A.I.R. pump. Is there little tubes going into all of the exhaust ports in the exhaust manifold?

AIR pump, above it is the AIR Diverter. Just like the name says it all...pumps air into the diverter to the exhaust manifolds. Their usually found on trucks with true duals, no cats.

They are also found on 48 state 1983 Blazers with the single exhaust and cat , dual outlet muffler , ESC , and non computer carb :D

I have a functioning one :pimp:

There were no true dual exhaust US gas K5's in the 80's, but it is the AIR pump.

yea, there is tubs going into the exhaust manifold. So when i put on my carb and intake and maybe even headers do i just romove that thing? or do i need it? thx for the help

It's part of the fun joy of emissions. If you have inspections/emission checks their, then yea, you'll need it.

I dont need to worry abot that i have a guy who will pass me, but if i remove it is it really that bad to do??

It doesn't hurt anything to leave it , may even help burn unburnt exhaust . You won't notice any real horsepower if ya take it off .

I thought is was just one more thing to rob power off the motor. Will be able to make it work with my intake, carb and headers? thx for the help guys

If that was the case , no one told my 305 . I have all the emissions chingas installed , and drove to work today with 35's and 3.73's , even did 70 on the freeway and passed some cars :wink1:

They are all wrong it is the flux capacitor and it only activates at warp speed. :D

If you've got a guy to pass you, just take it off. I may be wrong on this, but I think the tubes run into the exhaust manifolds, so you'd have to modify your new headers. Just throw it all in the trash.

So it will not work with headers. i thought there was a way around that. thx guys

2 ways around that . Buy smog legal headers . Or Weld some bungs onto the headers to attach the tubes too .

I don't beleive in global warming , but I do believe in following the rules :D
