What is is this thing?? w/ pic

I bought the Edelbrock shorty headers that have all the hookups. Cost a little more but I like the finish and they are smog legal. I took the belt off my smog pump and left it there for an easy hookup for inspections. You will probably have to buy new air pressure check valves (x2). They cost around $15 each at Autozone unless you really feel like fighting the ones that have been on the manifolds for 20+ years collecting rust.

I thought the smog pump just added air to the exhaust to slightly lower emissions?

yet onw more qestion dos all the egr really the nasty stuff that comes out the pipe? know what i mean? so i am not killing the earth faster??

I'm not sure if it does any good but it sure helps to pass emissions tests. I tried to sneak my 86 through last week and they failed me on "Air System" and my CO2's were high. So I spent 4 hours that night fighting to get that Son of a B*tch back in and passed for the Air System the nest day but still failed for the high CO2's. Got it home and leaned out the carb a bit and bumped the idle. I'll find out Monday if it did any good.

Andy

By the way, if you ever have to change your fuel pump you'll understand why I took my air pump out.

EDELBROCK Headers will have smoge stuff hook ups and they work great
I hate doing the smog test seems to be a crap shoot no matter how much you take off or leave on . They got ya by the balls thats why I keep my 69 around:D

The engine will run fine without it, but, you live in NJ. F'in inspection. :D

I have a guy that will pass me, but all at the same time dont want to kill the earth.

Your lucky, my stickers about 5 yrs old. Rot so bad I know it wont pass. Everything else will pass though. Got to get moving on the body work.

Yes , it does. I dont know about the chrome tho. One trip in mud i would think its gone.

Well at least these aren't dented like the original valve covers. I have had those on there since March of 05' and they are still shining brite. Beleve me they have seen more than enough dirt. :D

(that is under a nice film of oil of coarse )

Emissions junk. When I converted my 84 to serpentine, I removed the air pump, the manifold air tubes, diverter, etc. None of it is needed.
