What is my gear ratio?

K come get them. They come with a rusty truck for 3k. I drive it everyday.

This ^^.
RPO codes:

GU2 2:73 ratio

GU4 3: 08 ratio

GU5 3:23 ratio

GU6 3:42 ratio

GT4 3:73 ratio

GT5 4:10 ratio

Don't forget the old GQ1- stock gear ratio (mystery RPO)

crap it's all sealed up now :doah: I am going to jack it up and count hou many times the driveshaft turns with 1 tire rotation
IIRC if you have an open diff it will double the count.
eg: if you have 3.08's it will spin 6.16:1 turns.

If you have a locker it will spin 3.08:1

Can someone confirm/ debunk this?

A fun way to figure it out is to go for a drive and note your specs and use a gear ratio calculator.
Here's one from Summit racing. CLICK>>> GEAR RATIO CALCULATOR

If it was a locker and had a trailer package it would Likely have 3.73.
With the open carrier I see I bet it has 3.08's might have 3.42's

i thought it was, with an open dif. hold one tire and spin the pinion until the wheel that you are not holding has gone around twice, then count how many times you turned the pinion and it will most likely be just over 3 turns.

Find level ground
Put a mark on the yoke with a paint pen
Chock front tire
Put trans in N
jack up 1 rear tire
Make 1 complete revolution on said tire while counting how many times u see that mark go by on the yoke

Then multiply by two if its an open diff

Good thing is was that I already bought the motor a couple weeks ago and my brother is bringing it from Vegas, but it was gunna be used to build a hotrod but truthfully I don't have the extra time and money to do all of that so maybe it's a good thing. I know the first thing I am doing is getting the right dipstick! There were a ton of things we did wrong the first time, so this time it should be a lot easier and quicker
