What is NOS?

Nitrous Oxide Systems is a brand name, the product though is NOX, Nitrous Oxide. Go juice bigtime, maybe even blowup your motor.:D

New Old Stock... simply explained:

Lets say you want a nice new door panel for your 74 blazer.

One that was made in 74, but never used, or installed - New Old Stock.
One that is made recently - Aftermarket replacement.

no, that's N2O. "NOX" is an emissions gas.

I see it all over the place, simple question, google keeps pulling up the damn nitros stuff.

NOS is a brand name. Nitrous Oxide is oxygen with nitrogen to stablize the unstable oxygen. So basically you are adding pure oxygen to the engine creating a much more powerful explosion. You hear of people blowing up their engine, most likely they are running more then a 250 hp shot.

i know what nitros is, no2 actually is the gas.

Thought it was N2O.

Then there's dihydrogen monoxide... watch out for that stuff, it's dangerous.

Hey....also Nitruis (sp) is also laughing gas....as well as the stuff thats in cans of whip cream....as well as whippits...

Yup! Deadly. Kills fast. Inhale too much of that stuff and you will be pushing up daisys in no time..Sure Death to motors too.

Ingest too much dihydrogen monoxide and it will kill you too.

****ty thing is it's everywhere!!!

not always true

u can blow a motor with a 150 kit , what blows the motor is the air to fuel ratio way off and causing a super lean which burns the piston you have to add extra fuel also when you spray N2O! or blown mottor ive seen a motor that had a double shot and each shot was a 250...1 off the line and the next around mid track ..but they were adding enuff fuel that it didnt blow and i watched this 632 big chief motor with 2 250 shots run 5-6 times down the 1320 until he was at the top of his class

relax, we're not going into technical applications of nitrous oxide in this thread. everyone already knows to add extra fuel, many even go so far as to add a separate fuel system dedicated only to the nitrous.

NOS, that's what got DW banned....whoops, I mean it's a brand name of a nitrous oxide system company.

ever read or hear about something, and then have to try it? i'm going for some dihydrogen monoxide right now. wish me luck!

i often wondered

why they haven't try to in ject O3 which is liquid oxygen but thru my reasearch i found out they have tried it back in the early 60's but it was just to dangerous as pure oxygen can ignite with out an ignition source go off in your intake or if the motor did get it ingested it was a very violent explosion plus the safty issue of a tank of pure liquid oxygen on a burning rig so before you try new stuff better talk to a chemist or do alot of research on what your thinkin of try'n

Chemically Impossible.

Adding oxygen to an enviroment increases the speed of the chemical reaction. Thus, some things (like a cookie), that would not burst into flames, would when heated. Likewise, adding oxygen to a compressed explosion would increase the efficiency of the reaction, and speed.

Oxygen itself is not flammable nor combustible.
