I live in central west florida.. and currently I am selling or looking to trade my accord for a Blazer... The problem is that it is so hard to find any K5's in my area.. Ive looked at autotrader.com and a couple other places and in the local ads. Is there a better way to find these rare animals? /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif Thanks Alot..

You're already in the best place to find whatever you are looking for. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

expand your websearch...floribabma should have some straight K10's....keep lookin'! I dunno about anyone else, but a trade isn't too likely IMO.

I bought my 87 Blazer off of E-Bay. You have to some home work, such as running a VIN history. If the seller won't give VIN, run from it as fast as you can. Set a budget, and subtract what it will cost to ship or go get. Make that your absolute high bid. Don't get in a bidding war. I kept my search for a Blazer confined to the west, and found what I wanted in Las Vegas. Odds are the body will have little rust if you look in Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico.

Try local message boards. I found my K5 by placeing wanted adds on local rancher/farmers web site's free classifieds.

drive /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif i see more blazers while goin places. just keep your eyes open, talk to freinds who might no of one, check local ads, the classifieds etc. hope ya find a good one

oh ya some advice for ya, if you have limited or no access to a welder or someone who welds makes sure your floors arnt rotted out at all (happend to me and im still findin a way to get them fixed after havin it for 6months or so) /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

It was a rotted 71 K5 that I gained valuable experience welding in new floors, somehow the shop class at school just was not as satisfying--I learned a lot of things on that truck, not the least of them was to never but another one that rotted unless its strictly for parts!.I usually feel sorry for them and end up fixing them up and driving them.
There are trucks all over the place for sale here, most are rotboxes though--a good place to look is a local junkyard, some of the better K5's around here bodywise seem to get scrapped, many times the yard will sell the whole vehicle plus whatever parts you need with a title for a rasonable price--you have to act fast though, theese deals usually sell fast,or if it doesnt they will pick it up with the forkloader and put it in the boneyard for parts.(or crush it! /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif)
Also try the bulletin boards at a local supermarket, they have free "for sale"ads there, found some good trucks that way too!. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Where exactly are you in "central west florida"? Knowing your location will better help people here point you in the right direction.

Buy one. Soon as you do they are everywhere. When you are looking for one they are like hen's teeth.

I am in Palmetto a small town just south of Tampa Bay.. Im doin my best to find em.. in the local papers, online, wherever I can.. I havent seen many on lots or around town. They are pretty rare it seems. Also I want an Sm465 one so that might even be tougher... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Thanks for the Suggestions!

What is "floribabma" does anyone else not understand this term? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Is it some sort of mix of alabama and florida? Thanks

"FloriBama" is a term used by all us rednecks in the panhandle of Florida and the lower part of Alabama ( a.k.a. "L.A." ) .
Most of the Truck trader sales magazines cover Georgia , Alabama , Florida and sometimes Mississippi around here.
Good luck in your search ! Tom

Floribama is a bar on the state line in Perdido/Orange Beach. Great weekend place to party.

I bought my K5 out the 'for Sale' forum from a fellow CK5er. I had it transported from AZ to GA. Most of the real clean trucks I have seen are in AZ and CA. Buying without seeing the truck is a little risky. If you do not feel you trust the seller ,walk away.

There's one out here (88?) that's been converted to one ton but the guy wants 10K. He's had it for sale for quit a while so I'm sure he will sell it for a lot less. You could fly out here at the end of sept. then go to Moab for blazer bash and try it out /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Thats what I was thinkin "floribama" meant but he spelled it crazy the first time... Anyway Ill keep my eyes open but thanks for the tips.. I dunno if I would be able to make it out just because I am in School right now and money is tight.. I can only spend on a Blazer what I get from the honda which is about 5 grand max.. Im hopin to find one for maybe 3500 or 4 grand and put a little into it.
