I switched out my rear 1/2 ton axle for a 1 ton (14 bolt) with a 4.10 ratio seems like the Jimmy now has a harder time going up hill. And the gearing might be a little off. What was consider stock fgear ratio on the 6.2 liter diesel (no turbo)?

i hope that your not using 4x4 if its a different ratio then what you had stock. the best way to find out is to decode the RPO codes on the sticker int the glovebox. ALL military blazers had 3.08:1 gears, but civilian blazers got any thing from 2.7?:1 to 4.10:1 iirc

the 1ton stuff was available with the same wide selection of gearing, ALL military pickups got 4.56:1 gears.

Common for 1/2 ton diesels were 3.08, 3.42 and 3.73. With the switch to 4.10's it should feel snappier, not slower.

Do you mean you can't get enough speed?
I am sure it's not lacking power but you might feel it's not getting the speed you want and it's true it will sound like the whole truck is going to fall appart from the engine noise to reach highway speeds with 4.10 gears. :D
But it will pull heavy trailers well that way.:D

you think 4.10's are bad, try having 4.56:1 gearing and NO overdrive. :p

My friends crew cab on low profile had 4.56 gears, he would scream the engine at 3500RPM to keep up with traffic at 65-68MPH, he since switched to 3.73 since his tires are about 29" tall, he has it slammed to the ground
