....is plastic or teflon and goes between the leaf spring ends and where can you buy them on line?
Thanks

Im not sure exactly what they are called but I call them anti-friction pads.

Ive been told that you can buy them cheap at local spring shops but since there are no spring shops within reasonable driving distance to me I got the number to alcan spring and ordered some from them. I think I paid around $20 for 40 of them shipped to AR.

I fiddled with some HDPE or UHMWPE tape from my local plastics place, per the 52" spring swap article. In the end it was prolly too much of a PITA, so if you can get the right part it's prolly better. OTOH, the tape does keep the leaves from sticking anywhere along the length, not just the tips. :dunno:

I used some of the uhmw for my front springs but only because they had no holes for the little pads. It works ok but I would rather have the little pads, mostly because of the price. uhmw is litte and when you have 52s in the front and 56s in the rear it can get real expensive.

those pads I ordered from alcan were only like .30 each plus the shipping. for $20 I got enough to do both sets of springs then I found out there were no holes in the 52s and got barely enough uhmw from a plastic store for $30.

blazin blazer-Ill post up in the regional forum. I remember getting a couple e-mails from you but I didnt reply to the correct address or something cause I never got a reply back.

Chit. Don't know why I didn't think of it but I have Deaver about 15 minutes from my home. Duh!!! Thanks fellas.

Hi, what are these things used for?, can you please describe them?

thanks

Usually they are little plastic pads at the end of each leaf in the pack of leaf springs.

They're there both to keep the leaves quiet (metal on metal contact can be squeaky) and to help the leaves slide along each other more easily (both for better ride and more flex).

Since the auto makers and all custom spring shops (Deaver) uses them on their packs I'd assume they are a benefit. I just picked up a dozen from Deaver this morning for .50$ a pop. Cheap insurance for a potential benefit to spring performance.
